Chapter 19 - The Fall of the East Coast

Marcus frantically pressed the detonator again, his face twisting in pure, unadulterated panic when the explosives failed to trigger.

"You really think I would let you walk into my wife's building without completely controlling the environment?" Everett asked smoothly.

"Marco activated a military-grade signal jammer in the sub-basement twenty minutes ago."

"Your detonator is completely useless."

Before Marcus could even scream for his guards in the lobby, Everett violently closed the distance between them.

He grabbed the heavy, expensive desk chair Marcus was sitting in and viciously kicked it backward.

Marcus tumbled onto the floor, dropping the useless detonator, desperately reaching for the heavy weapon holstered at his hip.

Everett did not give him a single fraction of a second to recover.

He grabbed Marcus by the collar of his expensive suit, hauling the older boss to his feet, and delivered a devastating, brutal punch directly to his jaw.

The sheer, terrifying strength of the Chicago king completely shattered Marcus’s jawbone with a sickening crack.

The guards in the adjacent lobby finally heard the commotion and rushed into the office, raising their assault rifles.

But the heavy glass windows of the office suddenly shattered inward in a massive, deafening explosion of breaking glass.

Marco and ten elite Kane soldiers swung into the room on tactical rappelling lines from the roof above, opening fire instantly.

The precision strike was flawless; Thorne’s elite guards were completely neutralized before they could even pull their triggers.

The terrified doctors and nurses screamed, huddling on the floor as the incredibly violent firefight ended in less than ten seconds.

Everett ignored the chaos entirely, his dark, murderous gaze completely locked on the broken man bleeding onto Willa’s beautiful carpet.

He grabbed Marcus by the throat, lifting the New York boss violently into the air, pinning him against the shattered glass frame of the window.

"You threatened my family, you attacked my home, and you terrified the people my wife protects," Everett growled, his voice vibrating with absolute, lethal finality.

"You are finished, Marcus."

Everett did not use a weapon; he used the sheer, terrifying power of his bare hands to permanently extinguish the life of the East Coast boss.
