Chapter 9 - The Legacy Restored

Six months later.

Spring had arrived in full bloom across Lake Forest. The symmetrical hedges of the Castellano estate were covered in fragrant white roses, and the central fountain sparkled beneath a clear blue sky.

Today was the day of the wedding.

There were no media crews, no mob bosses, and no political figures present. The estate was decorated with simple, elegant white silk ribbons and fresh greenery. Only thirty people were invited—the loyal staff of the estate, Salvo and his security team, Dr. Aris, and close personal friends who had supported them through the storm.

Inside the grand master bedroom, Nora stood before a floor-to-ceiling mirror, wearing a breathtaking A-line lace wedding dress that flowed gracefully down to the floor. Her dark hair was styled in soft curls, pinned with white orchids.

A soft knock sounded at the door.

Damon stepped into the room, looking impossibly handsome in a classic black tuxedo.

He stopped in his tracks, his breath catching in his throat as he looked at his bride. The ruthless, analytical genius who had faced down federal prosecutors and mob bosses without blinking was completely speechless.

"You are... breathtaking, Nora," Damon said, his voice thick with raw emotion.

Nora turned around, a radiant smile lighting up her face. "You don't look so bad yourself, Don Damon."

Damon walked over to her, taking both of her hands in his, bringing them to his lips for a soft kiss. "Are you ready?"

"I've been ready for three years," Nora replied softly.

Down in the garden, the string quartet began playing a beautiful classical melody.

Damon and Nora walked down the stone stairs together, stepping out onto the green lawn where their guests stood and applauded.

Standing at the altar near the fountain was Clara, wearing a miniature matching lace dress, holding a basket of white rose petals, proudly acting as the flower girl. Sitting right beside her, wearing a black satin bow tie around his thick neck, was Apollo, sitting upright like a regal guardian.

As Damon and Nora took their places at the altar, Clara looked up at her parents with wide, happy eyes.

"Mommy looks like a princess!" Clara whispered loudly to Apollo, who gave a gentle nod of his massive head.

The priest began the ceremony, his voice floating softly over the peaceful garden:

"We are gathered here today to unite two hearts that were separated by darkness, tested by adversity, and brought back together by love..."

When the moment came to exchange vows, Damon looked directly into Nora’s emerald eyes, holding her hands tightly.

"Nora," Damon spoke, his deep voice echoing clearly across the garden. "I spent my entire life believing that control was the only way to survive. I built walls, hired guards, and hardened my heart to keep the world out. But when you and Clara walked back into my life, you showed me that true strength isn't about control—it's about love, family, and protection. I promise to stand by you, honor you, and love you for the rest of my days."

Nora wiped a happy tear from her cheek. "Damon... three years ago, I was running in the dark, terrified for my daughter's future. You gave us a home, a family, and a life beyond my wildest dreams. I promise to love you, trust you, and walk beside you forever."

"By the power vested in me," the priest announced with a warm smile, "I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride!"

Damon pulled Nora into his arms, dipping her slightly as he kissed her deeply, passionate and full of love, while the entire garden erupted into thunderous cheers, applause, and thrown rose petals.
