Chapter 10 - The Dawn of a New Empire

Five years later.
The afternoon sun set over Lake Michigan, painting the sky in brilliant shades of pink, gold, and orange.
The Castellano estate was quiet, filled with the serene beauty of a peaceful home.
On the lush green lawn of the East Wing, a ten-year-old Clara was running through the sprinklers, her joyful laughter floating through the warm summer air. Running beside her, albeit a little slower in his older age, was Apollo, chasing a tennis ball with happy, bounding strides.
Sitting on the marble patio nearby was Damon, now forty-one, looking relaxed and contented as he held a small, one-year-old baby boy—named Leo Castellano—on his lap, helping the toddler balance on his tiny feet.
Nora walked out from the garden terrace, carrying a tray of fresh lemonade and fruit. She wore a simple summer dress, her skin glowing with happiness and health.
She set the tray on the glass table and sat down beside Damon, leaning her head against his shoulder.
"Leo looks just like you when he frowns like that," Nora laughed softly, gently booping her baby son’s nose.
"He doesn't frown," Damon smiled, kissing Nora’s temple. "He's calculating. He's an architect."
"Oh heaven help us," Nora teased, wrapping her arm around Damon’s waist. "One genius in the house is enough."
Salvo walked up the stone steps, wearing a dark polo shirt instead of a tactical vest, carrying a small leather folder.
"Boss," Salvo said respectfully.
"Salvo," Damon replied warmly. "What did I tell you about calling me boss on Sundays?"
Salvo smiled faintly. "Habit, Damon. Just wanted to let you know that the new children's hospital wing in South Chicago was officially opened this morning. The mayor dedicated the building to the Vance-Castellano family."
"Thank you, Salvo," Damon nodded. "Have a good evening with your family."
"You too, Damon." Salvo bowed respectfully and walked back toward the security pavilion.
Damon looked out over his estate. The walls that had once been built to keep a hostile world out were now holding a warm, thriving family inside. The reputation of the Castellano name was no longer built on fear, crime, or blood—it was built on philanthropy, integrity, and unbreakable loyalty.
Clara came running up the stone steps, covered in water drops, giggling as Apollo trotted up behind her, shaking his wet coat, sending water droplets flying everywhere.
"Apollo!" Nora laughed, shielding baby Leo with her hands.
Clara threw herself onto the outdoor sofa beside her parents, cuddling close to Damon. "Daddy! Apollo says he wants an ice cream party!"
Damon chuckled, wrapping his long arm around both of his daughters, his wife, and resting his hand on Apollo’s heavy head.
"Then an ice cream party it is," Damon declared.
He looked down at his wife, his daughter, his newborn son, and the faithful beast that had brought them all together five years ago.

The man who had once believed that loyalty only came to the hand holding the leash had finally learned the greatest truth of all: true loyalty, true power, and true happiness only belong to those who love with an open heart.
And standing beneath the golden sunset of his home, Damon Castellano knew that his empire was finally complete.
