Chapter 9 - The Boy Who Stopped the Boss

The heavy, armored black SUV aggressively violently tore through the massive iron gates of the Vitelli estate just as the sun began to rise.

Jenny had not slept a single wink, anxiously pacing the grand foyer for hours, completely terrified that the only man who had ever truly helped her was dead.

When Dante violently kicked the front doors open and dragged a heavily bleeding, semi-conscious Marco inside, Jenny screamed in absolute horror.

“Get the estate doctor right now!” Dante roared to the panicked staff, aggressively laying Marco down onto the massive, expensive living room rug.

Jenny completely ignored the horrific amount of blood soaking into the white carpet, immediately dropping to her knees beside the dangerous mafia boss.

She aggressively tore his ruined, bloody shirt open, immediately applying intense, heavy pressure to the deep gunshot wound on his side.

“You are not allowed to die on me, Marco,” Jenny sobbed fiercely, her hands completely covered in his dark blood. “I absolutely forbid it.”

Marco slowly opened his heavy, exhausted eyes, managing a small, weak smile when he saw her beautiful face leaning over him.

“I told you they would never touch you again,” Marco rasped quietly, completely proud that he had successfully kept his brutal promise.

Before the frantic doctor could even arrive, small, incredibly quiet footsteps echoed softly from the top of the grand staircase.

Leo walked slowly down the stairs, clutching a small stuffed bear, staring wide-eyed at the massive, terrifying man bleeding on the floor.

Dante instantly moved to aggressively block the child’s view, completely terrified that the horrific scene would permanently traumatize the little boy.

“Let him pass,” Marco groaned fiercely, completely refusing to let his men scare the innocent child.

Leo walked bravely up to Marco, kneeling down directly beside his weeping mother on the bloody carpet.

The little boy gently reached out his tiny hand and softly placed it directly over Marco’s massive, heavily tattooed arm.

“Thank you for buying my medicine, Mr. Marco,” Leo whispered sweetly, completely unaware of the absolute violence this man had just committed to save them.

“You are very brave.”

Marco completely broke down, heavy, agonizing tears finally spilling from his dark eyes for the absolute first time in twenty years.

The ruthless, untouchable mafia king who had violently murdered a rival boss an hour ago was completely undone by the gentle touch of a fragile child.

He wept for his own mother, for the horrific life of violence he had built, and for the beautiful, innocent family he desperately, fiercely wanted to protect.
