Chapter 7 - The Safe House in the Hills

The massive, highly secure Vitelli estate was located entirely outside the city limits, hidden deeply behind enormous iron gates and dense, ancient forests.

It was a sprawling, incredibly beautiful stone mansion, surrounded completely by high walls, advanced security cameras, and heavily armed perimeter guards.

Marco led an exhausted, completely traumatized Jenny and Leo directly into the massive, warmly lit grand foyer.

A team of quiet, highly respectful maids immediately rushed forward to offer them warm food, clean clothes, and gentle comforts.

Jenny gently placed a finally calm, sleeping Leo into a massive, incredibly soft bed in the luxurious guest wing, kissing his forehead softly.

She walked slowly back downstairs, completely desperate for a quiet moment to process the absolute insanity of the violent night.

She found Marco sitting completely alone on the dark outdoor patio, holding a crystal glass of expensive whiskey and staring blankly at the massive garden.

He had removed his suit jacket, completely revealing the heavy, dark tattoos that covered his muscular arms, aggressive reminders of his violent life.

Jenny walked quietly over and sat directly in the plush chair beside him, wrapping a heavy wool blanket tightly around her shivering shoulders.

“I am a complete monster, Jenny,” Marco whispered softly, refusing to even look at her beautiful face because he felt entirely unworthy of it.

“The world I live in is built entirely on blood, fear, and horrific violence, and I dragged you right into the absolute middle of it.”

Jenny stared at the terrifying mafia boss, completely realizing that underneath all the expensive clothes and lethal power, he was just a deeply broken man.

“You bought medicine for a little boy you didn't even know, Marco,” Jenny said quietly, her soft voice completely cutting through his dark self-hatred.

“A monster would have simply walked away and let my son die on that cheap couch.”

Marco finally turned his head to look at her, his dark, dangerous eyes shining with a profound, highly unfamiliar vulnerability.

“They will relentlessly hunt you as long as the Romanovs breathe, simply to aggressively punish me for having a heart,” Marco confessed bitterly.

“Then what are you going to do to stop them?” Jenny asked, her voice completely steady, entirely refusing to back down from the brutal reality.

Marco stood up slowly, a cold, utterly terrifying resolve completely replacing the vulnerability in his dark eyes.

“I am going to completely end their entire bloodline before the sun comes up,” Marco declared softly, promising absolute, total annihilation.

He gently reached out and lightly brushed a stray lock of hair away from her tired, beautiful face.

“Stay completely inside this house, lock the doors, and do not let anyone in until I return,” he instructed fiercely.

Marco walked away into the dark night, completely ready to burn the entire city to ashes just to keep her safe.
