Chapter 13 - The Burning Warehouse

The violent, horrific retaliation happened exactly forty-eight hours after the incredibly tense meeting in the abandoned steel factory.

Marco was sitting comfortably in his massive home office, gently helping Leo with a complex mathematical puzzle, when his private secure phone began to violently ring.

He answered it quickly, his dark eyes instantly hardening as Dante's urgent, deeply panicked voice filled the quiet room.

"Silas just completely firebombed our primary storage warehouse on the south side of the city," Dante reported, the heavy sound of sirens blaring loudly in the background.

"The building is completely destroyed, Marco, and Silas left a massive, incredibly clear message painted in blood on the remaining brick wall."

Marco felt a cold, terrifying rage completely wash over his entire body, aggressively tightening his massive fists until his scarred knuckles turned completely white.

"Was absolutely anyone hurt in the explosion?" Marco demanded fiercely, completely prioritizing the safety of his innocent civilian workers.

"No, the building was completely empty for the night, but this was an absolute, highly aggressive warning shot," Dante warned heavily.

Marco ended the secure call, taking a slow, incredibly deep breath to completely mask the violent, terrifying fury currently boiling in his dark blood.

He turned around slowly, instantly finding Jenny standing quietly in the heavy oak doorway, her beautiful eyes filled with deep, intuitive concern.

She had completely heard the dark, dangerous shift in his deep voice, instantly recognizing the terrifying tone of the mafia king she thought was gone.

"What is happening out there in the dark, Marco?" Jenny asked softly, walking completely across the room to gently take his heavy, trembling hands in hers.

Marco looked down at her, absolutely terrified that the horrific violence of his past was aggressively bleeding into their beautiful, perfect future.

"A deeply evil, incredibly dangerous man is aggressively trying to force me to return to the violent life I left behind," Marco confessed quietly, his voice cracking with heavy guilt.

Jenny did not completely recoil in fear, nor did she aggressively yell at him for bringing this horrific danger to their front door.

Instead, she stepped incredibly close to him, wrapping her small, warm arms fiercely around his massive, heavily muscled waist.

"You are not that terrifying monster anymore, Marco, and you absolutely do not have to fight this war the exact same violent way you used to," Jenny whispered fiercely.

Marco rested his heavy chin gently on the top of her soft hair, feeling completely anchored by her absolute, unwavering faith in his goodness.

"If I do not completely destroy him, Jenny, he will aggressively keep coming until he violently hurts you and Leo," Marco stated, stating an absolute, terrifying fact of his dark world.

"Then we will completely fight him together, but we will absolutely do it completely in the light," Jenny promised bravely, her voice completely devoid of any hesitation.

Marco closed his dark eyes, realizing that he was completely standing at the absolute most important crossroads of his entire life.

He could easily pick up his heavy guns, aggressively summon his violent soldiers, and completely murder Silas in the absolute dark.
