Chapter 7 - The Trial of the Century

Six months later, the highly publicized trial of Ethan and Diane Brooks officially began.

The media dubbed it the "Trust Fund Terror" case, and the courtroom was packed with reporters every single day.

Olivia sat at the prosecutor’s table, looking radiant, strong, and completely fearless.

Ethan looked terrible, having lost twenty pounds in jail, his hair thinning from the intense stress.

Diane sat beside him, looking aged and broken, completely ignoring her son.

The prosecutor methodically laid out the undeniable evidence for the shocked jury.

They showed the forged trust documents, the secret bank transfers, and the altered life insurance policies.

They played Margaret’s jailhouse recording where Diane threw her own son under the bus.

Ethan closed his eyes as the jury gasped at the sheer cruelty of his own mother.

Then, it was finally time for Olivia to take the witness stand.

She walked up to the box with her head held incredibly high.

"Mrs. Brooks, can you tell the court what your husband said to you when he locked you in the closet?" the prosecutor asked gently.

Olivia looked directly at Ethan, making sure he saw that she was no longer afraid of him.

"He said that no one would ever believe a hysterical pregnant woman," Olivia answered clearly, her voice echoing in the silent room.

"He was wrong."
