Chapter 19 - The Cycle Broken

Lorenzo struggled violently beneath Vincent's grip.

He cursed his son and demanded that Vincent finish the job and kill him like a true mafia boss.

He wanted to die a violent death so his legend would live on in the underworld.

Vincent looked down at the pathetic old man and felt the last heavy weight lift from his shoulders.

He refused to give Lorenzo the satisfaction of a mobster's glorious martyrdom.

Vincent stood up and holstered his weapon.

He told his father that he was not worth the price of a bullet.

He said Lorenzo was going to spend the rest of his miserable life locked in a concrete box completely forgotten by the world.

The massive glass doors of the museum rotunda suddenly burst open.

Agent Thomas Vance and a swarm of heavily armed FBI tactical units flooded into the room.

They had been monitoring the situation closely ever since Hannah tipped them off about the gala trap.

The agents aggressively pinned Lorenzo to the floor and slapped heavy steel cuffs on his wrists.

The old ghost spat blood on the marble floor and screamed that the Caruso name would never wash clean.

Vincent turned his back on his father and walked away without saying another word.

He walked down the long corridor toward the reinforced ballroom doors.

The steel barricades slowly slid open revealing the frightened but completely unharmed guests.

Hannah pushed her way through the crowd of billionaires and politicians.

She ran across the floor and threw herself into Vincent's arms.

Vincent picked her up and spun her around as the entire room erupted into massive applause.

The wealthy donors had watched the entire security feed and realized the couple had just saved their lives.

Agent Vance walked over and awkwardly cleared his throat to interrupt the romantic moment.

He shook Vincent's hand and officially declared that the federal government was closing the Caruso file forever.

There were no more rivals no more syndicates and no more ghosts hiding in the shadows.

Vincent kissed Hannah's tears away and whispered that they were finally completely free.

They walked out of the museum hand in hand into the freezing Chicago night.

The flashing lights of the police cars painted the snowy streets in bright colors.

They didn't look back at the criminal world they were leaving behind.

They only looked forward to the beautiful life they were going to stitch together.
