Chapter 18 - The Final Stand

Vincent moved through the shadows of the museum like a phantom.
He systematically disarmed and neutralized four of Lorenzo's mercenaries without firing a single lethal shot.
He used the ancient statues and massive display cases to outmaneuver the heavily armed thugs.
He broke their wrists and knocked them unconscious leaving them zip-tied for the police.
He was determined not to let his father turn him back into a murderer tonight.
Vincent finally reached the grand rotunda located at the very center of the museum.
Lorenzo was standing in the middle of the room pointing a heavy revolver at the security cameras.
He realized his men were dropping like flies and the ballroom was completely impenetrable.
The old boss screamed Vincent's name demanding he step out of the shadows and fight like a man.
Vincent stepped out from behind a massive marble pillar and lowered his pistol.
He told his father that the war was over and the police had already surrounded the entire city block.
Lorenzo laughed and aimed his revolver directly at Vincent's chest.
He declared that if he could not have the empire he would simply erase the heir.
Before Lorenzo could pull the heavy trigger a voice echoed through the museum speakers.
It was Hannah broadcasting from the secure security room deep inside the locked ballroom.
Her voice was perfectly calm and completely devoid of fear.
She told Lorenzo to check the offshore bank accounts he used to pay his mercenary army.
Lorenzo frowned and pulled a secure encrypted phone from his jacket pocket.
His face turned completely pale as he stared at the banking application on his screen.
Hannah had used the gala's massive server network to hack his remaining South American accounts.
Every single penny of Lorenzo's hidden wealth had just been donated to an orphanage in Italy.
He was no longer a powerful mafia boss with unlimited resources.
He was just a broke and desperate old man holding a gun in a museum.
Hannah's voice echoed through the rotunda one last time.
She told Lorenzo that she was just a simple seamstress but she knew how to cut toxic threads.
Lorenzo screamed in absolute fury and aimed his gun wildly at the ceiling speakers.
Vincent used the distraction to sprint across the marble floor.
He tackled his father to the ground before the old man could fire a single shot.
The heavy revolver clattered harmlessly across the polished floor.

Vincent pinned Lorenzo down and stared into the hateful eyes of the man who gave him life.
The generational curse of the Caruso family was finally broken.
