Chapter 14 - The Seamstress Strikes
Vincent lunged across the metal table to choke the life out of his father.
Two massive guards immediately slammed the butts of their rifles into Vincent's ribs.
He collapsed to the cold floor coughing up blood but keeping his eyes locked on the monitor.
The grainy green night-vision footage showed twelve heavily armed men surrounding his peaceful home.
Lorenzo laughed and told Vincent he should have never underestimated the old ways.
On the screen the tactical team kicked open the front doors and stormed into the living room.
Vincent felt his heart stop as he waited to see the love of his life dragged into the camera's view.
But the house was completely empty.
The tactical team began frantically sweeping the bedrooms and the kitchen.
There was no sign of Hannah or the foundation's security detail anywhere on the property.
Lorenzo stood up from his chair and furiously yelled into his radio.
He demanded to know how a simple seamstress had managed to escape a perfectly planned ambush.
Suddenly the television screen flickered and the live feed of the empty house vanished.
It was replaced by a live video call of Hannah sitting in a high-tech corporate boardroom.
She was wearing a razor-sharp business suit and sipping a cup of herbal tea.
Hannah smiled at the camera and politely waved at Lorenzo.
She told the old mafia boss that his hacking skills were incredibly outdated.
She explained that she had noticed the shell company's aggressive financial maneuvering days ago.
She had spent the entire morning moving the foundation's billions into heavily encrypted international trusts.
Hannah also revealed that she had not been waiting at home to be murdered.
She had evacuated the estate the moment Vincent left the driveway.
Lorenzo stared at the screen in pure disbelief.
He had spent his entire life dealing with violent thugs and corrupted politicians.
He had never been outsmarted by a woman whose greatest skill was sewing silk dresses.
Hannah leaned into the camera and delivered the final crushing blow.
She told Lorenzo that she had used the foundation's vast resources to trace the shell company's IP address.
She had just emailed a comprehensive dossier of Lorenzo's illegal South American operations to the FBI.
