Chapter 45 - The Sovereignty of Silence

Morning broke over the coastline in a brilliant, blinding wash of gold and pale blue. The lake stretched out infinitely toward the eastern horizon, flat and calm as a mirror.
We sat together at the breakfast table in the sunlit conservatory, sharing quiet conversation over coffee and fresh pastries. There was no urgency to our morning, no frantic scheduling, and no external demands. We were absolute sovereigns of an empire that required no armies, no threats, and no bloodshed to maintain its grip.
