Chapter 8 - The Price of Love

Gabriel intensely stared at the massive stack of legal transfer documents Victor forcefully shoved directly into his face.

Signing them literally meant completely losing the massive, highly lucrative criminal empire he had spent twenty years building in blood.

It meant officially giving the brutal Russian syndicate absolute, unchecked control over the entire city's dangerous underworld.

Gabriel looked desperately at Maren, who weakly shook her head, silently begging him not to give up his life's work for her.

He instantly realized that he truly did not care about the money, the incredible power, or the intense fear he commanded.

He only cared about the beautiful woman bleeding on the floor and the innocent little girl crying in the next room.

Gabriel angrily demanded a pen and aggressively, decisively signed his famous name on every single dotted line.

Victor smiled with triumphant glee and quickly tucked the highly valuable legal documents into his expensive suit jacket.

He signaled directly to David with a incredibly cold, highly dismissive flick of his right wrist.

Victor stated calmly that he finally had exactly what he wanted, so there was absolutely no need to leave any loose ends alive.

David eagerly raised his heavy weapon and aimed it directly and mercilessly at Maren’s violently beating heart.

Gabriel felt a sudden, incredibly sharp click in his own wrist as he deliberately and painfully dislocated his own thumb.

He completely ignored the blinding, sickening pain and smoothly slipped his bloody hand free from the heavy steel cuffs.

Before David could even attempt to pull the trigger, Gabriel snatched the silver revolver right from the small table.

He quickly fired a single, absolutely perfect shot directly between David’s cruel, wide eyes.

David collapsed heavily to the concrete floor, completely dead before his brain even registered the fatal impact.

The remaining Russian guards quickly raised their rifles, but Gabriel moved with lethal, absolutely terrifying speed.

He accurately shot both guards directly in the chest and immediately dove behind a stack of wooden shipping crates for cover.

Victor cursed incredibly loudly and scrambled desperately toward the heavy steel door located at the back of the warehouse.

Gabriel carefully checked his stolen weapon and realized with absolute dread that he only had one single bullet left in the chamber.
