Gabriel’s strong hands, which had ruthlessly ended countless lives, were shaking violently as he desperately tried to save hers.
He quickly pulled out his highly encrypted satellite phone to immediately call his underground, elite medical team.
The glowing screen displayed absolutely zero digital signal in the remote, heavily forested, and completely isolated valley.
He knew with absolute certainty that Maren would bleed to death within the hour if she did not get immediate emergency surgery.
He realized he had to temporarily leave the safety of the cabin and climb the high ridge to get a clear satellite connection.
Gabriel kissed Maren’s cold, sweaty forehead and solemnly promised her that he would return in exactly ten minutes.
He knelt down to eye level and gently told Nora to be incredibly brave and strong for her wounded mother.
Nora bravely wiped her falling tears and carefully wrapped her beloved yellow blanket around Maren’s violently shivering body.
Gabriel forcefully pushed the heavy wooden door open, stepped out into the raging storm, and sprinted up the slippery, muddy hill.
He finally reached the rocky summit and watched with immense relief as the signal bars on his phone slowly lit up.
He quickly dialed his emergency extraction team and rapidly relayed their exact, highly classified GPS coordinates.
