Chapter 7 - The Syndicate's Ultimatum

Gabriel woke up incredibly violently, gasping for desperate air as freezing cold water was splashed directly onto his face.

His blurry vision cleared extremely slowly, revealing the cold, damp, and completely unforgiving walls of an industrial warehouse.

He quickly realized he was bound incredibly tightly to a heavy steel chair with thick, industrial-grade chains.

David stood menacingly in front of him, his bleeding shoulder heavily bandaged from the recent gunshot wounds.

David smiled maliciously and gleefully announced that Gabriel’s elite rescue team never actually arrived at the cabin.

He proudly revealed that he had successfully intercepted the satellite call and captured both Maren and Nora instead.

Gabriel unleashed a primal, terrifying roar of pure rage and violently strained against the thick, unyielding steel chains.

He swore to David that he would ensure his death was so incredibly slow and painful that hell would feel like a sweet mercy.

A slow, highly rhythmic, and arrogant clapping suddenly echoed from the dark, unseen shadows of the massive warehouse.

A silver-haired, deeply scarred man wearing an immaculate white suit confidently stepped into the dim overhead light.

It was Victor, the undisputed, ruthless king of the Russian syndicate and Gabriel’s oldest, most hated rival.

Victor casually lit an expensive Cuban cigar and arrogantly blew the thick, gray smoke directly into Gabriel’s face.

He calmly explained that this entire elaborate operation was never actually about Maren’s supposedly unpaid gambling debts.

Maren was completely innocent; David had deliberately and strategically planted her in Gabriel’s home as a brilliant trojan horse.

They knew Gabriel’s only real weakness was his deeply buried, unspoken desire for a real, loving family.

Victor aggressively snapped his fingers, and two massive, heavily armed guards dragged Maren into the center of the room.

She was barely conscious, her dark red blood still dripping steadily and terrifyingly onto the dirty concrete floor.

Victor slowly placed a fully loaded, silver revolver on a small table directly between Gabriel and Maren.

He smiled cruelly and casually offered Gabriel a terrifying, absolutely impossible choice.

Gabriel had to legally sign over his entire criminal empire, or Victor would ruthlessly execute the crying toddler hidden in the next room.
