Chapter 25 - The Bloodied Shipyard

The old shipyard was a sprawling labyrinth of rusted shipping containers and broken cranes.
The freezing rain poured down, turning the ground into a slick, muddy nightmare.
Arthur stood alone under the dim glow of a broken streetlamp, wearing his heavy tactical vest over a black sweater.
He was smoking a cigarette, looking completely exposed and entirely unbothered.
But hiding in the shadows of the containers were fifty of his most lethal men, armed to the teeth and waiting for the signal.
Clara was parked a mile away in an armored mobile command unit, watching the thermal cameras on her monitors.
“Four SUVs approaching from the east gate, Arthur,” Clara’s voice crackled through the earpiece in his ear.
“Understood,” Arthur replied quietly, tossing his cigarette into the puddles.
The black vehicles rolled into the shipyard, their headlights cutting through the heavy rain.
The doors burst open, and thirty New York soldiers poured out, raising automatic weapons toward Arthur.
Vincent, the hot-headed boss from the cathedral, stepped out of the lead vehicle with a smug, arrogant grin.
“You got careless, Moretti!” Vincent yelled over the sound of the storm.
“Your own people sold you out!”
Arthur did not flinch, nor did he reach for the rifle slung across his back.
He simply looked at Vincent and smiled, a chilling expression that made the younger boss falter for a second.
“I didn't get careless, Vincent,” Arthur called back smoothly.
“I got a wife who is much smarter than you.”
Arthur raised his right hand, giving the signal.
The shipyard erupted into an absolute symphony of violence.
Arthur’s men opened fire from their elevated positions on top of the shipping containers, catching the New York soldiers in a devastating crossfire.
Vincent’s men panicked, dropping like flies as the heavy caliber rounds tore through their unarmored vehicles.
Arthur drew his assault rifle, moving forward with terrifying, mechanical precision, cutting down anyone who raised a gun in his direction.
Vincent screamed, trying to scramble back into his SUV to escape the slaughter.
But Arthur was too fast.
He closed the distance in seconds, firing a burst that shattered the SUV’s engine block, rendering it entirely useless.
Arthur grabbed Vincent by the back of his expensive coat and threw him violently to the muddy ground.
The gunfire slowly ceased as the remaining New York soldiers surrendered, dropping their weapons into the mud.
Arthur placed his heavy combat boot on Vincent’s chest, aiming his rifle down at the terrified man’s face.

“Tell Dominic that the East Coast is closed for business,” Arthur growled.
He pulled the trigger, ensuring Vincent would never threaten Clara again.
