Chapter 9 - The Federal Handcuffs on the Stage

Lead Special Agent Marcus Cole strode onto the stage, flanked by eight armed federal marshals with suppressed carbines at low-ready.
Agent Cole held up two unsealed federal grand jury arrest warrants stamped with the red seal of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
"Bradley Vance! Harold Sterling!" Agent Coleās booming voice echoed through the vaulted ballroom like a funeral bell. "By order of the United States District Court, you are under arrest!"
Bradley panicked. He attempted to shove past Marshal Jenkins.
Marshal Jenkins moved with lightning speed, sweeping Bradleyās legs out from under him, slamming the forty-two-year-old CEO face-first onto the polished stage floorboards.
THUD.
Marshal Jenkins twisted Bradleyās right arm behind his back, planting a heavy tactical combat boot directly between his shoulder blades.
CLICK. SNAP.
The heavy, matte-black tactical steel handcuffs engaged around Bradleyās wrists with a sharp, definitive metallic ring.
Two male marshals pinned Commissioner Harold Sterling against the acrylic podium, snapping heavy steel ratchets over his wrists.
CLICK. SNAP.
"Bradley Vance," Agent Cole recited coldly into his ear. "Under Title 18 of the United States Code, you are under arrest for Masterminding Felony Extortion, Interstate Wire Fraud, Attempted Murder for Hire, and Operating an Illegal Smuggling Enterprise totaling fifty-two million eight hundred thousand dollars."
Bradley wept like a broken, sniveling dog, his bespoke tuxedo jacket tearing at the shoulder, snot and tears smearing across the stage floor where he had stood boasting twenty minutes earlier.
He turned his bloodshot, ruined eyes toward where Luca and Mila stood united on the platform.
"Romano! Please! I was desperate!" Bradley wailed hysterically, his voice cracking into pure despair. "The European syndicates were going to kill me! Iāll sign over every company asset! Iāll surrender the Panama accounts! Donāt let federal marshals lock me in a cage for the rest of my life! Forgive me!"
Luca Romano walked slowly over to where the handcuffed CEO lay pinned to the floor.
Luca looked down at the weeping, ruined traitor with eyes of pure, unvarnished stone.
"You threatened the woman who runs my world, Vance," Luca whispered softly, each word dropping like an iron anvil onto stone. "You thought she was a helpless target in the dark. You are about to learn that when you reach for what is mine... you pull down the sky."
As the federal marshals dragged the weeping, screaming conspirators down the central red-carpeted aisle in full view of five hundred cheering high-society witnesses and fifty live-streaming media cameras, the entire ballroom erupted into a thunderous, standing ovation.

The stage was clean.
Justice was absolute, complete, and uncompromising.
