Chapter 22 - THE UNENDING HORIZON

As Sunday afternoon brought a gentle, refreshing rain across the Chicago metropolitan area, the city shimmered beneath a blanket of silver mist and soft autumn light.
Jonathan and Nora stood together on the private balcony of the seventy-fifth-floor penthouse, breathing in the crisp, rain-washed air. The storm clouds were breaking away to the east, revealing a brilliant, unbroken horizon where the blue sky met the sparkling expanse of Lake Michigan.
"Do you ever look out at the city now and feel like it's a completely different place?" Nora asked, pulling her wool shawl tighter around her shoulders as she looked out over the skyline.
"It is different," Jonathan answered, wrapping his arm securely around her waist, pulling her close against his side. "Because we stopped building walls to keep the world out. We finally opened the doors and let the light in."
Far below them, the eternal, rhythmic hum of Chicago rose like a gentle lullaby, the city lights flickering on one by one across the vast urban grid. There were no conspiracies lurking in the boardrooms, no enemies plotting in the shadows, and no secrets left to keep.

Jonathan looked down at Nora, his heart beating with a steady, unshakeable rhythm—the calm, open pulse of a man who had fought through the darkest shadows and found his way safely into the unending light.
The monsters had tried to bury him. They didn't realize he was a seed. And now, as the rain cleared and the golden sun broke fully across the towers of Chicago, the true reign of the Whitmore empire had only just begun.
