Chapter 10 - The Unbreakable CrownThree months later, the Moretti estate looked less like an armed fortress and more like a home.

The heavy iron gates were still secured by elite guards, but the interior gardens were filled with the sound of laughter, blooming roses, and the patter of tiny running feet.
It was a bright Sunday afternoon. The grand lawn behind the mansion was set up for a celebration—a quiet, private gathering of family and trusted loyalists to mark a new era for the syndicate. There were no capos plotting coups, no rival cartels threatening war. Just peace, earned through blood and absolute resolve.
Elena stood on the stone patio wearing a stunning ivory lace dress, holding a glass of sparkling cider as she watched little Mia chase a golden retriever puppy across the green grass. The little girl’s laughter bubbled up into the crisp afternoon air, pure and untaunted by the shadows of the past.
Footsteps approached from behind, and a pair of strong, familiar arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her flush against a warm, solid chest.
"She's wearing that ring around her neck on a piece of red yarn again," Lorenzo murmured near her ear, a low, amused rumble in his chest. "I think she considers it her royal scepter."
Elena leaned back against him, smiling as she felt the heavy platinum band of his wedding ring resting against her left hand. "She's your daughter, Lorenzo. What did you expect? She's already running the household."
Lorenzo chuckled, pressing a soft, lingering kiss to the side of her neck. "She gets that stubbornness entirely from her mother."
Across the lawn, Mia suddenly stopped chasing the puppy, turned around, and spotted them standing together on the patio. Her face lit up with that wide, gap-toothed, infectious smile.
"Daddy! Mommy!" she squealed, running across the grass as fast as her small legs could carry her, her little floral dress fluttering in the breeze.
Lorenzo stepped away from Elena for just a second, dropping to one knee on the stone patio—the exact same posture he had taken three months ago in his private study when a little girl had walked in and changed the course of his entire life.
He opened his arms wide, catching Mia as she launched herself directly into his chest with a joyful shriek, wrapping her small arms around his neck.
Elena stood watching them, her heart overflowing with a deep, unshakable peace. The terrified maid who had once scrubbed floors in fear was gone. The ruthless mob boss who had ruled through terror was transformed.
They had built a kingdom not out of glass and lies, but out of fire, truth, and an unbreakable love that no storm could ever tear down.

And as Lorenzo looked up from holding their daughter, his pale grey eyes meeting Elena’s with a look of absolute, fierce devotion, she knew one thing for certain:
She was never leaving this gate again.
