Chapter 5 - The Healing Touch

The damaged estate was quiet again, save for the efficient cleanup crews working in the courtyard.

Gabriel walked heavily into the penthouse, exhausted and covered in dark bruises.

Leah was waiting for him in the living room, having put a peaceful Noah to sleep in his crib.

When she saw Gabriel's damaged state, she gasped softly and rushed toward him.

"You are bleeding, Gabriel, please sit down on the sofa right now," Leah ordered, guiding him to the cushions.

Gabriel was usually resistant to anyone showing him physical vulnerability or pity.

But he surrendered to Leah's gentle commands, leaning his exhausted head back against the leather.

Leah retrieved a medical kit from the bathroom and returned to carefully clean his deep wounds.

She wiped the dried blood from his sharp jawline with a warm, damp cloth.

Gabriel kept his dark eyes fixed on her focused, beautiful face.

"You saved our lives today, Gabriel," Leah whispered, applying a bandage to a cut on his shoulder.

"I would burn the world to the ground just to keep you safe, Leah," Gabriel confessed deeply.

Leah's hands stopped moving, her racing heart pounding violently in her chest.

She looked into his passionate eyes, feeling a magnetic pull between them.

Gabriel reached up with his calloused hand, threading his fingers through her dark curls.

He slowly pulled her face down toward his, giving her the chance to pull away.

Leah did not retreat; she leaned forward, pressing her soft lips against his.

The kiss was gentle, desperate, and filled with a profound promise of devotion.
