Chapter 10 - The Legacy

Five years passed since the beautiful wedding on the beach.

The Mercer criminal syndicate was nothing more than a fading memory in the city's history.

Gabriel Mercer was now known as a ruthless but fair corporate billionaire and philanthropist.

The coastal estate was filled with the sounds of children playing and dogs barking.

Noah was a bright, energetic six-year-old who loved building sandcastles and reading books.

He officially called Gabriel "Dad," a title Gabriel cherished more than any amount of wealth.

Leah was pregnant with their second child, her belly round and beautiful under the summer sun.

She ran a successful charity foundation that provided shelter for domestic abuse survivors.

One afternoon, Gabriel stood on the wooden deck of their home, watching the sunset over the water.

Leah walked up behind him, wrapping her arms around his waist.

"What are you thinking about?" she asked, resting her cheek against his shoulder.

Gabriel placed his large hands over hers, feeling the gentle kick of their unborn baby.

"I was thinking about the night I walked into that cold basement," Gabriel confessed quietly.

"I went down there expecting to punish a monster."

Leah smiled, pressing a soft kiss to his shoulder blade.

"And instead, you found a terrified waitress holding a baby," she teased gently.

"I found my entire world," Gabriel corrected her, turning around to pull her into a tight hug.

He looked down at the beach, where Ethan was teaching Noah how to skip stones across the waves.

The violent, bloody past had been washed away by the tide, replaced by an unbreakable family bond.

Gabriel kissed his wife's forehead, feeling a profound sense of absolute peace.
