Chapter 7 - THE PRESS CONFERENCE

Charles Voss stood before a room full of flashing cameras and eager journalists.

The emergency board meeting had been a complete success.

He was now the acting CEO of Whitfield Enterprises, and he was ready to play the grieving friend.

"It is with a heavy heart that I must announce Daniel Whitfield's permanent medical leave," Voss said into the microphone.

"His injuries were too severe, and he can no longer lead this incredible family we have built."

The reporters shouted questions, asking about the stock prices and the details of the crash.

Voss raised his hands to quiet the room, a smug, victorious smile playing on his lips.

"I promise to guide this company through its darkest hour with integrity and honor," Voss lied to the world.

Suddenly, the heavy oak doors at the back of the press room flew open with a deafening crash.

The room fell into absolute silence as the journalists turned around.

Standing in the doorway, dressed in a sharp black suit and leaning heavily on a cane, was Daniel Whitfield.

He looked pale and exhausted, but his posture radiated absolute, terrifying power.

Behind him stood Dr. Park, his head of security, and the unassuming housekeeper, Maria Alvarez.

"I appreciate your concern for my health, Charles," Daniel said, his voice echoing through the silent room.

Voss gripped the edges of the podium so hard his knuckles turned completely white.

"Security, this man is not in his right mind, remove him!" Voss shouted in sheer panic.

None of the guards moved a single muscle, perfectly aware of who truly signed their checks.

Daniel began the long, slow walk down the center aisle, his eyes locked onto the man who tried to kill him.
