Chapter 6 - The Song of Palermo

One year later.
The warm summer sun shone brightly over a private estate in the hills of Palermo, Sicily. The ocean sparkled like liquid diamonds in the distance, and the scent of fresh lemons and olive trees filled the balmy breeze.
A large outdoor dining table was set under a wooden pergola, covered in fresh bread, pasta, and bowls of ripe fruit.
Four-year-old Leo was running through the grass, laughing hysterically as Dominic—wearing a pair of sunglasses and a relaxed polo shirt—chased him with a colorful beach ball.
Standing near the edge of the stone terrace overlooking the sea, Paige stood in a flowing white dress, holding a glass of chilled sparkling wine.
Landon stepped up behind her, sliding his arms around her waist and pulling her back against his chest. He pressed a warm kiss to the side of her neck.
"What are you thinking about, Contessa?" Landon asked softly, his voice rich with contentment.
"I was thinking about the Gilded Spoon," Paige smiled, turning in his arms to look up into the eyes of her husband. "About the cold rain in Manhattan, the cheap apron, and the terrified girl with a false name tag."
"Sarah was dull," Landon teased gently, repeating her own words back to her with a warm smile. "Paige Falcone Moretti is extraordinary."
"And Landon Moretti doesn't have a heart of ice," Paige countered softly, placing her hand over his beating chest. "He just needed a lullaby to wake him up."
Landon laughed—a genuine, deep sound that carried across the sunny garden. He leaned down and captured her lips in a sweet, lingering kiss under the Mediterranean sun.
Across the lawn, Leo ran up to the terrace, holding his wooden boat high in the air.

"Mommy! Daddy!" Leo called out cheerfully. "Look! The boat is sailing!"
Paige and Landon held hands, stepping off the terrace to join their son in the warm grass. The nightmare of the past was gone forever, replaced by the strength of an unbreakable family, a restored legacy, and a love that had started with a single whispered secret in the Manhattan rain.
