Chapter 10 - The New Dawn

Five years passed since the morning the barefoot child changed the fate of the Vitale family.

The empire had grown stronger, purged of its traitors and rebuilt on a foundation of absolute, unshakable loyalty.

Filippo’s name was erased from the family history, a ghost never to be spoken of again.

Alessandro ruled with a firmer, wiser hand, knowing that true threats did not always roar, sometimes they whispered.

It was a bright, sunny afternoon in the courtyard of the estate.

Alessandro sat at a patio table, sipping espresso and reviewing financial reports from the docks.

The heavy iron gates were secure, guarded by men whose loyalty had been tested in fire and blood.

A sudden burst of laughter echoed from the gardens, bright and melodic.

Chiara, now eight years old, came running across the manicured lawn, chasing a golden retriever puppy.

She wore a beautiful white sundress, completely carefree and blissfully unaware of the dark world that shielded her.

Sophia watched from the terrace, a proud, peaceful smile on her face.

Alessandro put down his papers, watching the little girl tumble onto the grass in a fit of giggles.

She was no longer just the housekeeper's daughter.

She was the untouchable princess of the Vitale syndicate, guarded fiercely by every soldier in the family.

Chiara looked up, saw Alessandro, and waved excitedly.

"Look, Uncle Alessandro!" she shouted, holding up a small, vibrant flower she had plucked.

Alessandro smiled, a genuine, warm expression that reached his eyes.

"It is beautiful, little one," he called back.

He picked up his coffee cup, taking a slow, satisfied sip as the sun warmed his face.

Eighteen years of paranoia had ended, replaced by a quiet, fierce dedication to protecting this singular light.

The world of men who smiled while sharpening knives would always exist outside these walls.

But inside, guided by the innocent hands of a child, the king had finally found his peace.
