Chapter 6 - The True Bride

Six months later.
Early summer had arrived in Port Mercy. The harbor was bathed in brilliant afternoon sunlight, the blue ocean sparkling like millions of crushed diamonds beneath a clear blue sky.
The grand gardens of Blackwood Point were filled with three hundred distinguished guests—city leaders, international business partners, clinic doctors, and long-time friends of the Marston family.
Violins played a soft, romantic melody near the marble gazebo overlooking the ocean cliffs.
Marion Marston sat in the front row, wearing an elegant ice-blue silk suit, her hands resting on her walking stick, her face beaming with immense pride.
Eleanor Bennett and Tessa were nowhere to be found. Eleanor had sold her house in Port Mercy and moved to Florida following the social ruin of her family, while Tessa had taken a low-level job in Boston, completely isolated from New England society.
At the altar beneath a canopy of white roses and ocean greenery stood Adrian Marston.
He looked impossibly handsome in a bespoke dark navy tuxedo, his dark hair neatly styled, his posture erect and powerful. Yet his hand trembled slightly—a rare sign of emotion from the iron-willed head of the Marston family.
Because walking down the aisle toward him was Emma.
She wore a breathtaking, custom gown of ivory silk that flowed like liquid silver around her feet, carrying a bouquet of yellow and white summer roses. Her hazel eyes were locked onto Adrian, completely oblivious to the hundreds of guests watching her pass.
She didn't walk with the hesitant, anxious steps of a woman trying to please a boy who took her for granted. She walked with the proud, confident grace of a woman who was deeply, utterly adored by a king.
When she reached the altar, Adrian reached out, his long fingers gently taking hers. His touch was warm, rock-steady, and filled with a devotion that brought tears of pure happiness to Emma’s eyes.
"You are breathtaking, my queen," Adrian whispered softly so only she could hear.
Emma’s heart soared. "I love you, Adrian."
"I have loved you from the moment I first saw you," Adrian replied, his dark eyes shining with intense emotion.
The ceremony was short, powerful, and deeply moving. When the minister finally announced: "I now pronounce you husband and wife. Adrian, you may kiss your bride," Adrian didn't hesitate.
He pulled Emma into his arms, lifting her slightly off her feet, pressing his lips to hers in a deep, passionate kiss that brought a roaring ovation from the entire crowd!
Cheers and applause echoed across the cliffside as Marion Marston clapped her hands loudly, tears of joy sparkling in her eyes.
Later that evening, as the sun set over the harbor, painting the sky in glorious shades of orange, purple, and gold, the wedding reception was in full swing inside the glass pavilion.
Emma stood on the quiet stone terrace overlooking the dark sea, holding a glass of champagne, watching the ocean waves crash against the rocks below.
A pair of strong arms wrapped around her waist from behind, pulling her back against a broad, warm chest.
"Thinking about the past?" Adrian murmured into her ear, resting his chin on her shoulder.
Emma leaned back against him, closing her eyes, feeling the steady, powerful rhythm of his heartbeat against her back.
"No," Emma smiled, turning her head to kiss his cheek. "I was thinking about how every broken piece of my life led me right here... to you."
Adrian reached into his pocket and slipped his hand into hers.
On her ring finger, beside her platinum wedding band, sat a flawless, seven-carat cushion-cut blue sapphire ring—the historic Marston crown jewel that had been passed down for a hundred years to the true matriarch of the family.
"You are a Marston now, Emma," Adrian whispered softly, his lips tracing her neck, making her shiver with delight. "The true queen of this house. The queen of my heart."
Emma turned in his arms, wrapping her hands around his neck, looking into the eyes of the man who had fought for her, honored her, and loved her beyond measure.

"And you are my home, Adrian," Emma whispered.
He pulled her into another deep, passionate kiss as the fireworks exploded over Port Mercy Harbor, lighting up the summer sky in brilliant colors, celebrating a love that had risen from the ashes of betrayal to burn brighter than a thousand suns.
