Chapter 10 - A NEW SUNRISE

Six months later.

The morning sun filtered brightly through the floor-to-ceiling glass windows of a stunning modern villa overlooking the Hudson River.

I stood on the balcony, wrapping a cozy cashmere cardigan around myself, sipping a warm cup of coffee. The air was fresh, carrying the faint scent of pine and ocean breeze.

My phone chimed on the table beside me. I picked it up to see a photo from my sister, Sophie. She was laughing, standing on a beach in California, looking completely vibrant, healthy, and full of life. Her transplant surgery four months ago had been a total success. She had a full, bright future ahead of her, completely free of medical debt or fear.

A pair of strong arms gently wrapped around my waist from behind. I leaned back into Leonardo’s solid chest, placing my hand over his.

"What are you thinking about?" he murmured softly into my neck, pressing a tender kiss behind my ear.

"About how my life changed in a single night," I answered with a smile, turning in his arms to look up into his striking dark eyes.

Leonardo looked down at me with an intensity that still made my heart skip a beat. Gone was the cold, terrifying Don that the world feared. Around me, he was gentle, fiercely protective, and deeply devoted.

Following the council meeting, Leonardo had completely restructured the family's operations, dismantling the dark corrupt elements and turning the family legacy toward legitimate global enterprise. The violence was over. The traitors were gone.

And the maid who had once scrubbed his floors on her knees was now the most respected woman in the entire empire.

"You saved my life that night, Leora," Leonardo said softly, bringing my hand to his lips and pressing a gentle kiss against my knuckles. "Not just because you stopped the bleeding... but because you showed me what loyalty, courage, and unconditional love actually look like."

He reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a small, elegant velvet box.

He opened it to reveal a magnificent, flawless oval diamond ring that caught the morning sunlight, sparkling with dazzling brilliance.

"I promised you that if I survived that night, you would never have to worry about surviving again," Leonardo said, his voice deep and filled with emotion as he looked into my eyes. "Now, I want to spend the rest of my life ensuring your happiness. Will you marry me, Leora?"

Tears of pure happiness welled in my eyes. I didn't look back at the hardship, the fear, or the poverty that had defined my past. I looked at the man who had given everything to protect me and my sister.

May you like

"Yes," I whispered, a tear slipping down my cheek as I smiled warmly. "Yes, Leonardo. Absolutely yes."

He slipped the ring onto my finger, drawing me into a deep, passionate kiss as the morning sun rose high above the river, washing away every shadow of the past and illuminating a bright, limitless future together.
