Chapter 6 - The First Real Dance

One year later.
The sun was setting over the sweeping cliffs of Narragansett, painting the Atlantic Ocean in dazzling shades of gold, rose, and liquid violet.
The estate grounds had been completely transformed. White silk marquees stretched across the manicured lawns, illuminated by thousands of fairy lights woven through the coastal trees. Classical music drifted softly through the warm summer air.
It was a wedding—but unlike the cold, pretentious spectacle at the Harborstone Hotel a year ago, this celebration was intimate, genuine, and filled with real warmth.
Hannah stood inside the glass pavilion, looking at her reflection in the mirror. She wore a stunning, simple silk gown with a sweeping train, her hair styled in soft waves adorned with delicate white orchids. There was no heavy veil hiding her face, no anxiety knotting her stomach. She looked radiant, strong, and deeply happy.
Behind her, the door opened, and Elena walked in, wiping a tear from her eye. "You look like a queen, my dear."
"Thank you, Elena," Hannah smiled, giving her a warm hug. "Is everyone here?"
"Yes. Your students' parents sent lovely flowers, your legal team is already enjoying the wine, and Nero is currently guarding the wedding cake," Elena laughed softly. "And your groom is waiting."
When Hannah stepped out onto the lawn, the small gathering of close friends, loyal allies, and former teaching colleagues stood up, smiling warmly.
At the end of the flower-draped altar stood Luca Belandi.
He wore a tailored black tuxedo, looking impeccably handsome. As he watched Hannah walk down the aisle toward him, the stern, unyielding lines of his face melted into a look of pure, unadulterated devotion.
There were no gold place cards made out of desperation, no manipulative in-laws, and no hidden agendas. There were only two people who had found light in each other's darkest hours.
When Hannah reached him, Luca took her hands in his. His touch was warm, solid, and familiar.
"You take my breath away, Hannah," he whispered softly as the officiant began the ceremony.
"You gave me my life back, Luca," she replied softly.
They exchanged simple, powerful vows—promises of protection, respect, loyalty, and an enduring love that no storm could ever shake. When Luca placed a simple, beautiful platinum band set with a brilliant blue sapphire onto her finger, Hannah felt a deep, peaceful wholeness settle over her heart.
"I now pronounce you husband and wife," the officiant declared. "You may kiss the bride."
Luca didn't hesitate. He pulled Hannah close by her waist and kissed her deeply, amidst the joyous cheers and applause of their guests.
Later that evening, as the stars twinkled above the ocean and the fairy lights glowed warmly, the orchestra began to play a slow, romantic waltz.
Luca walked over to Hannah, who was laughing with a few of her fellow teachers near the edge of the dance floor. He extended his right hand, palm up—large, scarred across the knuckles, and entirely hers.
"Mrs. Belandi," he said, a breathtaking smile warming his dark eyes. "May I have this dance?"
Hannah placed her hand in his, feeling the cool platinum ring on her finger press against his warm skin.
May you like
"Only if it's the first of a thousand, Mr. Belandi," she whispered.
Luca pulled her onto the wooden dance floor under the stars. As he spun her effortlessly through the warm night air, Hannah looked up into his eyes, completely safe, deeply loved, and knowing that she would never, ever be mistaken for anything less than a queen again.
