Chapter 10 - The Eternal Haven

Two Years Later.

The sun set over the rolling hills of the new Moretti vineyard in Upstate New York—a massive, peaceful country estate that Rico had purchased to build a safe, quiet life away from the heavy chaos of the city.

Though Rico remained the respected capo of the Moretti family, the day-to-day operations were now managed by Dante and a trusted council, allowing Rico to spend his weeks in the countryside with his family.

Down in the green grass near a blooming apple orchard, six-year-old Leo was running around with his retriever dog, kicking a soccer ball toward a small net.

Sitting on a wide wooden swing hanging from an ancient oak tree were Rico and Clara.

Clara leaned back against Rico’s shoulder, wearing a simple sundress, her face glowing with health, happiness, and peace. Resting in her arms, wrapped in a soft pink blanket, was a newborn baby girl—three-week-old Elena Clara Moretti.

Rico looked down at his daughter, his large, calloused hand gently stroking the baby's tiny, soft cheek. The little girl had Clara’s hazel eyes and Rico’s dark, wavy hair.

"She’s quiet," Rico murmured softly, his voice full of profound, quiet awe. "Not like Leo was."

"That's because she knows she’s safe," Clara whispered, looking up at her husband. "Her father cleared the way for her."

Rico leaned down, pressing a soft kiss to Clara’s lips, his hand sliding down to wrap securely around her waist.

Leo came running up the wooden steps of the terrace, his forehead covered in sweat, holding a freshly picked yellow wildflower.

"Look, Mommy! Look what I found for baby sister!" Leo cheered, handing the flower gently to Clara.

"It's beautiful, Leo," Clara smiled, kissing his forehead. "Thank you, sweetie."

Leo looked at his father, jumping up to sit on the other side of the wide swing, leaning his head against Rico’s arm. "Daddy... can we stay here forever?"

Rico looked out over his land—the blooming orchard, the peaceful home, the secure perimeter, and the three people who meant more to him than all the money and power in the world.

"Yes, little boss," Rico promised, wrapping his arm around his son, drawing his whole family close under the warm evening sky. "We are staying right here. Forever."

The dark blood, the tears, and the haunting ghosts of the past were gone, burned away by the light of a simple act of grace that had started two years ago in a quiet restaurant with a single glass of warm milk.
