Chapter 20 - The Legacy

Three years later.

The massive cathedral windows of the Vance estate in upstate New York let in the brilliant, golden morning light.

I sat comfortably in a plush armchair in the nursery, completely surrounded by soft pastel colors and gentle music.

I looked down at the tiny, perfect miracle resting securely in my arms.

Leo Vance had Julian’s dark, completely unruly hair, but he had my bright, observant eyes.

He was entirely perfect, a physical manifestation of the incredible love we had built from the ashes of betrayal.

Julian walked softly into the room, holding two steaming mugs of black coffee.

He was wearing comfortable gray sweatpants and a simple t-shirt, looking completely entirely different from the ruthless billionaire CEO.

He handed me a mug, carefully kissing the top of our sleeping son’s head with incredible reverence.

"He is completely exhausted from keeping us awake all night," Julian chuckled softly, sitting on the arm of my chair.

"He is plotting his hostile takeover of the playroom," I joked quietly, sipping the hot, bitter coffee.

Julian wrapped a massive, protective arm around my shoulders, pulling me closely against his side.

We looked at the completely peaceful, beautiful life we had created together.

The betrayals of Derek, Sloane, and Marcus felt like an entirely different lifetime, completely disconnected from this perfect reality.

I had survived the absolute worst of human cruelty, entirely refusing to become a tragic victim of circumstance.

I had chosen to fight, I had chosen to conquer, and I had completely claimed my rightful throne.

"Are you happy, my queen?" Julian asked softly, his blue eyes entirely filled with deep, unwavering devotion.

I looked at my incredible husband, my beautiful son, and the massive, peaceful empire that belonged entirely to us.

"I have absolutely everything I could ever want," I replied, a brilliant smile illuminating my face.

The story of the broken heiress and the ruthless billionaire was finally complete.
