Chapter 17 - The Harbor Confrontation

Derek’s twisted smile instantly faltered, confused by my absolute lack of fear.

"Shut up and give me the drive!" Derek screamed, taking a frantic step toward me.

"Or I will finish the job that the car crash started!"

"You will not do absolutely anything," a booming, terrifying voice echoed from the shadows of the hallway.

Julian stepped into the dim light of the living room, exuding the wrath of an absolute demon.

He was not holding a gun.

He simply held absolute, terrifying authority.

Derek spun around wildly, aiming his trembling weapon at Julian’s chest.

"You’re supposed to be in London!" Derek panicked, taking a terrified step backward.

Suddenly, a dozen laser sights pierced the darkness of the room, painting tiny red dots all over Derek’s chest and forehead.

Elias and his men materialized from the shadows, entirely surrounding the broken architect.

Derek dropped the gun instantly, falling to his knees as absolute terror completely consumed him.

"You are pathetic," Julian spat, walking slowly toward the kneeling man.

"Marcus used you as a disposable pawn to test our defenses, and you were too stupid to realize it."

Elias stepped forward, harshly violently securing Derek’s hands behind his back with thick zip-ties.

"What are you going to do to me?" Derek sobbed, the reality of his total failure finally crushing his spirit.

"I am going to hand you over to the federal authorities," Julian stated coldly.

"Sloane wore a wire for the last two weeks, and she recorded every single detail of your extortion plans."

Julian looked down at the man who had tried to murder me, his eyes entirely devoid of any human pity.

"You are going to spend the rest of your miserable life rotting in a concrete cell, Derek."

They dragged him out of the house, his pathetic screams echoing loudly into the freezing night air.

Julian turned to me, crossing the room to pull me into a fierce, completely protective embrace.

"One down," Julian whispered into my hair.

"And tomorrow, we completely destroy the other."
