Chapter 9 - Forever Moretti

One year later.

The private estate on the cliffs of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, was covered in lush white roses and glowing lanterns hanging from the ancient willow trees. The sun was setting over the clear blue water, painting the sky in breathtaking shades of violet and gold.

It wasn't a corporate spectacle. There were no reporters, no magazines, no political donors. Just thirty of our closest friends, loyal staff, and our family.

I stood before a mirror in the master dressing room, adjusting the veil of my lace wedding dress. It was simple, elegant, and timeless.

The door burst open, and two whirlwind figures charged into the room.

Leo was wearing a sharp little tuxedo with a black bow tie, looking like a mini version of his father. Maya was wearing a puffy white flower-girl dress with a wreath of yellow roses in her hair.

“Mommy! Mommy! Dad is crying outside!” Maya giggled, jumping up and down.

“He is not crying!” Leo countered, puffing out his chest. “He just has something in his eye because he said you look like an angel!”

I laughed, kneeling down to hug both of my children tight against my chest. “Are you guys ready to walk down the aisle?”

“Yeah!” they chimed together, taking my hands.

The music began to play—a soft, acoustic cello melody echoing across the manicured lawn.

I walked out into the golden evening light, holding Leo’s hand on my left and Maya’s on my right.

At the end of the altar, standing under an arch of white roses, was Luca.

He took my breath away. But Maya hadn't lied—there were actual tears shining in his dark eyes as he watched us approach. The cold, distant billionaire who had once let the world tear us apart was gone forever. Standing before me was a man who knew the true value of what he had almost lost.

When we reached the altar, Luca stepped down, taking both of my hands in his.

“You take my breath away, Nia,” he whispered softly.

“You have my whole heart, Luca,” I replied.

The vows were simple, spoken from the depths of our souls, sealed with promises of honesty, protection, and unconditional devotion.

When the minister declared us husband and wife, Luca didn't just kiss me—he swept me up into his arms, spinning me around as the small crowd erupted into cheers and applause.

Leo and Maya ran up, laughing, throwing handfuls of rose petals into the air around our feet. Luca set me down, immediately scooping both of our children up into his powerful arms, holding all three of us tight against his heart.

As the stars began to twinkle over the quiet waters of the lake, I leaned my head against my husband’s shoulder, watching our children play on the grass.

The painful journey was over. The lies had been burned away. And in their place, we had built an unbreakable legacy of truth, love, and a family that would last forever.
