Chapter 10 - A NEW RHYTHM

Two years later.

The sprawling estate on the coast of Italy was bathed in golden-hour sunlight. The high walls were covered in ivy, not barbed wire. In the lush garden, two healthy, energetic toddlers were chasing a golden retriever, their laughter echoing off the stone walls.

Sera sat on the patio, resting her hand on her swollen belly, smiling as she watched them. Nico tripped over his own feet, landing in the grass. Before he could even register the fall, Dante was there. The former Don scooped his son up, tossing him into the air until the boy giggled uncontrollably. Dante wore a simple linen shirt, his tattoos visible, but the tension that used to define his every movement was gone. He looked peaceful.

He walked over to Sera, kissing her deeply before resting a hand on her stomach. "How's our girl doing today?" he asked, his voice a low rumble. "Kicking to the beat of your voice," Sera smiled, leaning into his warmth. Dante Ferraro had dismantled his empire, handing the reins to legitimate businesses, trading his throne of fear for a kingdom of love. He looked from his laughing sons to his beautiful wife, realizing that the greatest victory of his life wasn't a war he won, but the broken pieces of his soul that a brave waitress had managed to put back together.
