Chapter 7 - The Master Charter of Moretti Global

Seventy-two hours later, the 50th-floor world headquarters of Moretti Global Holdings on Wacker Drive in downtown Chicago was an arena of historic, irreversible corporate transformation.
A fleet of eight black executive Suburbans was parked in the subterranean garage, while thirty senior managing directors, international shipping partners, and institutional banking delegates sat frozen around the sixty-foot mahogany conference table in the master boardroom.
News of Luca Moretti’s sudden, uncontested divorce from Evelyn Shaw, the unsealing of federal tax evasion investigations into Victoria Moretti, and the public emergence of his four-year-old twins had detonated across Wall Street and the Chicago business press like an earthquake.
The heavy double oak doors of the boardroom swung open with an authoritative, concussive push.
Stepping through the threshold, dressed in an immaculate bespoke navy-blue wool three-piece suit, looking magnificent, commanding, and completely restored, was Luca Moretti.
And walking at his side, her arm laced firmly through his, dressed in an elegant ivory tailored wool suit with structured lapels, her dark hair falling in glossy waves over her shoulders, her posture straight, proud, and sovereign, was Nia Carter.
Sitting in two customized junior executive leather chairs at the head of the sixty-foot table, wearing matching navy cardigans, were Leo and Maya, happily sipping hot chocolate from porcelain mugs while coloring on corporate stationery pads.
The entire boardroom sprang to their feet in thunderous, paralyzed respect.
Senior Assistant United States Attorney Marcus Vance stepped forward from the corporate legal delegation, placing an unsealed, gold-stamped federal charter onto the mahogany desk blotter with an echoing THUD:
THE RECONSTITUTION AND SOVEREIGN CONVEYANCE OF MORETTI GLOBAL HOLDINGS.
The Sovereign Lineal Trust: Deeding fifty-one percent controlling sovereign voting equity, twelve international shipping terminals, and all private family trusts unconditionally and irrevocably into The Leo Arthur & Maya Eleanor Moretti Sovereign Living Trust.
The Maternal Executive Directorship: Appointing Nia Carter as Co-Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Fiduciary Trustee, with absolute, unilateral veto authority over all corporate acquisitions, public philanthropy, and board appointments.
The Shaw Disengagement: Fully retiring the seventy-million-dollar syndicated credit line using Luca Moretti’s private liquid reserves, completely severing all financial and commercial ties with the Shaw Banking Group with extreme prejudice.
Luca leaned forward, resting his hands flat against the mahogany table.
His slate-gray eyes swept across the thirty corporate directors who had spent years treating his marriage as an administrative footnote.
“For seven years, this firm operated under the delusion that our strength came from mergers, leverage, and dynastic vanity,” Luca announced, his deep baritone carrying the concussive, unyielding authority of an iron vault closing. “We convinced ourselves that fear and bloodline politics were the only currency that mattered.”
He looked down at Nia, his large, warm hand resting over hers on the mahogany table.
“We were wrong. From this day forward, Moretti Global answers to the highest ethical and human standards. Every commercial initiative will support pediatric health, maternal medical endowments, and community welfare. And Nia Carter’s signature is the only law that governs this table.”
Luca picked up his gold Montblanc fountain pen, signed his ancestral name across the master charter in three decisive strokes, and handed the pen to me.
I looked down at the document that transferred absolute, sovereign control of a four-billion-dollar empire to my children.
I pressed the gold nib to the paper, signing my full name—Nia Eleanor Carter—with a steady, unshakeable hand, capping the pen with a sharp, concussive CLICK.

The entire board of directors stood at attention, bowing their heads in unanimous, standing allegiance.
The reign of cold arrogance was officially, permanently dead.
