Chapter 9 - The New Moretti Legacy

Two years later.
The autumn sun shone brightly over the Long Island estate, casting a warm golden light across the manicured gardens and the quiet blue ocean beyond.
The estate was no longer a cold, dark fortress of secrets. It was filled with life, warmth, and the joyous sounds of children’s laughter.
In the sunroom overlooking the east lawn, I sat on a cozy cream sofa, nursing our seven-month-old son, Julian Aleandro Moretti—named in honor of the brave father who had saved us all twenty years ago.
On the rug nearby, five-year-old Mia was sitting cross-legged, helping her father assemble a giant wooden dollhouse.
Aleandro sat on the carpet in a casual linen shirt and dark trousers, his dark hair falling slightly over his forehead as he carefully held a tiny wooden roof tile in place while Mia tapped it with a toy plastic hammer.
"Careful, little boss," Aleandro chuckled, tapping Mia’s chin. "Don't break the roof."
"I am building it strong like you, Daddy!" Mia announced proudly, giving the wooden wall one final, precise tap.
I smiled, watching the man who ruled New York’s commercial world play contentedly on the floor like a loving father.
Dominic, Marco, and the rest of the security detail were outside near the perimeter, but inside this house, there were no guns, no threat of war, and no lingering ghosts of the past.
Aleandro stood up, walking over to the sofa. He dropped down beside me, wrapping his arm around my shoulders, pressing a sweet, lingering kiss to my forehead before looking down at our sleeping son.
"He looks just like Julian," Aleandro murmured softly, his thumb gently stroking the baby’s soft cheek.
"He has your strong chin," I smiled, leaning my head against his shoulder.
Mia ran over, climbing onto the sofa between us, tucking herself under Aleandro’s arm.
"Daddy," Mia asked, looking up at him with her big brown eyes. "Remember when I told you to say sorry to Mommy?"
Aleandro let out a soft, hearty laugh, looking down at our brave little girl.
"I remember, sweetheart," Aleandro smiled, kissing her forehead. "It was the best order I ever took in my life."
He looked at me, his gray eyes shining with an everlasting, unbreakable love that encompassed our entire world.

"Because of that little demand," Aleandro whispered, pulling us all tight into his arms, "I found my home."
The autumn breeze rustled through the trees outside, carrying away the dark shadows of the past, leaving behind a family bound not by fear or blood debts, but by an eternal, invincible love.
