Chapter 14 - The Vow Renewed

A year had passed since the fateful evening at the Grand Savoy banquet. To celebrate their first anniversary, Julian did not organize a lavish, intimidating ball for the city’s high society. Instead, he rented out the small, historic chapel nestled on the cliffs of the North Ward, inviting only close friends, the workers from the press, and the community leaders who had stood with them through the storm.

Elena wore a simple white linen gown, holding a bouquet of wildflowers picked from the community garden. Julian stood before the altar, dressed in a classic navy suit, his face serene and his posture relaxed, stripped of the heavy armor he had worn for decades.

"I entered your house as an archivist looking for an escape," Elena replied softly. "I found a man who bore the burdens of a city on his shoulders, who had forgotten that he deserved peace. You gave me the courage to fight for truth, and in return, you gave me a love that is pure, enduring, and just. As long as the sun rises over this harbor, I am yours."

When Julian leaned down to kiss her, a soft, spontaneous cheer broke out from the pews. It was a marriage not sealed by legal documents or political expediency, but by the indestructible bond of shared truth and mutual grace.
