Chapter 6 - A NEW BEGINNING

One Year LaterSpring had arrived in Long Island. The cherry blossom trees surrounding the Moretti estate were in full bloom, dropping soft pink petals over the green lawns.
The estate gates were wide open for a celebration.
Children of the estate staff ran across the grass, laughter filling the air as an accordion band played warm Italian melodies near the sunlit fountain.
I stood on the marble patio wearing a stunning ivory dress, my arm wrapped around Julian’s waist. On his lapel, he wore a small silver pin shaped like an eagle resting over a shield of roses—the true symbol of a family reborn.
Mia, now six years old and wearing a beautiful lace flower-girl dress, came running across the lawn, holding out a shiny new plastic water bottle.
"Mr. Julian! Mommy! Look!" Mia giggled, holding the bottle up to the sun. "I brought water in case anyone gets thirsty!"
Julian laughed heartily—a bright, genuine sound that echoed across the courtyard—as he leaned down to scoop Mia up into his arms, swinging her high into the air.
"You'll always be our little lifesaver, Mia," Julian smiled, kissing her forehead before pulling me into a warm, loving embrace.
