Chapter 6 - The Crescent Moon

Six months later.

Spring had arrived at the Moretti estate. The gardens were blooming with white roses and purple lavender, filling the warm sea breeze with a delicate fragrance.

On the grand outdoor terrace overlooking the ocean, a long wooden table was set for an intimate evening dinner. There were no armed security guards lining the perimeter walls, no encrypted satellite phones buzzing on the table, and no cold formality in the air.

Adrian sat at the head of the table, dressed in a sharp linen shirt. To his right sat Grace, wearing a stunning green summer dress that complimented her warm eyes. She looked glowing, confident, and utterly at peace.

Beside her sat Lily, who was now nine years old, happily swinging her legs off her chair while drawing a picture of the mansion with colored pencils.

Dante walked out onto the terrace, wearing a casual polo shirt instead of his usual tactical suit. He carried a silver tray with a bottle of chilled sparkling water and three glasses.

"Everything is clear across all port terminals, Boss," Dante reported with a soft smile. "The quarterly reports are up twelve percent. And Senator Sterling's final trial concluded today—life sentence without parole."

"Good," Adrian said, taking the bottle of water from the tray. "Join us for dinner, Dante. We have plenty of food."

Dante smiled, bowing his head respectfully. "Thank you, Adrian. I'll join you in a moment."

Adrian filled Grace's glass, then poured a small amount into Lily's fruit juice cup. Finally, he lifted his own glass—the custom crystal tumbler with the golden crescent moon engraved on its stem.

He held the glass up to the evening sunlight, watching the golden crescent catch the soft orange rays of the setting sun.

Grace reached across the table, placing her hand gently over his. "What are you thinking about?" she asked softly.

Adrian looked at her, his fingers entwining with hers. Over the last six months, their quiet bond had grown into something deeply tender and unbreakable. Grace had brought light, laughter, and genuine love into a life that had once been defined solely by power and danger. They were no longer master and servant; they were partners building a new future together.

"I was thinking about how close I came to losing everything," Adrian murmured, looking at Grace, then over at Lily, who was busy adding bright yellow stars to her drawing. "And how a single crescent scratch saved my life."

"It wasn't just the scratch, Adrian," Grace said softly, her eyes filled with warmth and devotion. "It was because someone was finally paying attention to you... because we cared."

Adrian smiled, raising his glass in a silent toast toward the ocean horizon.

"To paying attention," Adrian whispered.

Lily looked up from her drawing, raised her little juice cup, and giggled. "And to the little moon!"

They all laughed together as the sun dipped below the blue waters of the bay, bathing the Moretti estate in a warm, eternal golden light—a home no longer built on secrecy and fear, but on loyalty, love, and a forever promise.
