Chapter 10 - The Legacy of the Ross Family

Ten years later.
The sprawling grounds of the Hale estate were filled with the sound of children laughing, running across the manicured lawns beneath the bright summer sun.
Inside the grand library, Ella sat in the leather wing chair by the stone fireplace, reading a storybook to their six-year-old daughter, who had Gabriel’s dark wavy hair and her own bright, curious eyes.
The heavy oak door opened, and Gabriel walked in, silver now threading through his dark hair at the temples, looking more distinguished and powerful than ever. He wore a simple linen shirt with the sleeves rolled up, carrying their toddler son on his shoulders.
The little boy squealed with delight, sliding down into his mother’s lap.
Gabriel walked over, placing a hand gently on Ella’s shoulder, looking down at his family with a quiet, profound peace that had taken a lifetime to build.
“You’re home early,” Ella smiled, leaning her head back against his hand.
“I told you I would be,” Gabriel said softly, pressing a kiss to her forehead. “The empire runs itself now. I have much more important things to take care of.”
Ella looked up at him, her heart swelling with the exact same fierce, undeniable love she had felt the night she limped through his office doors bleeding into the dark.
