Chapter 6 - The True Alpha’s Queen

The Autumn Pack Council Summit was held in the grand glass conservatory of the Mercer Estate three weeks later.

Leaders from six major territories—including Blackridge, the Southern Territory, and the Coastal Alliance—had gathered under the high glass domes to ratify the winter trading agreements.

The room was filled with elegant gowns, military dress uniforms, and the tense aura of political intrigue.

Standing near the grand entrance, wearing a sparkling champagne-gold silk gown that clung to her curves like liquid light, was Emma. Around her neck sat a heavy, breathtaking diamond and platinum collar—the historic crest of the Pinehaven Luna.

Beside her, holding her hand with unyielding strength, stood Nathaniel. He wore his formal Alpha dress uniform, his massive shoulders broad, his dark eyes commanding the respect of every wolf in the room.

Across the conservatory, a group of Blackridge delegates stood near the refreshment bar.

Among them was Daniel Reeves, accompanied by his father and a pale, miserable-looking Madeline Cross.

Daniel looked terrible. His skin was sallow, dark circles bruised the skin under his eyes, and his formal suit looked loose on his shrinking frame. Over the past three weeks, news of Emma’s meteoric rise to Head of Logistics and her public claiming by Nathaniel Mercer had sent shockwaves through Blackridge.

Daniel’s father had been stripped of his regional transit contracts after Emma’s audit revealed massive financial irregularities, leaving the Reeves family facing financial ruin.

Daniel stared across the room at Emma.

She looked radiant. Powerful. Unreachable.

She was no longer the quiet payroll clerk he had led on in the breakroom. She was the Queen of the largest timber and freight empire in the Northwest.

A sickening wave of regret washed over Daniel. He had traded a goddess for a piece of rotten land.

Driven by a desperate, foolish impulse, Daniel stepped away from his father and began walking toward Emma.

“Emma...” Daniel called out softly as he approached, his voice trembling. “Emma, please... can I speak to you for just one minute?”

Emma stopped talking to an elder from the Coastal Alliance and turned her head.

When she saw Daniel standing three feet away—looking small, pathetic, and broken—she felt no anger. No pain. Only a profound, indifferent calm.

Before Nathaniel could step forward to crush the nuisance, Emma held up a gentle hand, stopping her Alpha.

She looked directly into Daniel’s eyes.

“Mr. Reeves,” Emma said, her voice clear, elegant, and devoid of any emotion. “If you have business regarding Blackridge’s outstanding freight debts, please submit a formal inquiry to my assistant tomorrow morning. Otherwise, enjoy the reception.”

Daniel winced as if struck, the cold formality of her tone cutting deeper than any insult.

“Emma... please,” Daniel whispered, his eyes shining with pathetic tears. “I made a mistake. I think about you every night. I should have chosen you—”

“Silence,” a thunderous voice boomed through the conservatory.

Nathaniel stepped forward, his massive frame blocking out the light, his gold-flecked gray eyes locking onto Daniel with lethal intensity.

“You didn't choose her,” Nathaniel said, his voice carrying across the entire silent room, ensuring every pack leader heard every word. “Because you were too blind to see gold when it stood before you. You thought she was weak because she was kind. You thought she was nobody because she didn't boast.”

Nathaniel reached out, gently pulling Emma against his side, his large hand resting possessively over her hip.

“She is Emma Mercer,” Nathaniel declared, his voice echoing off the glass dome like thunder. “Luna of Pinehaven. Head of Mercer Freight. My equal. My mate. And if you step toward my wife again, I will personally ensure your name is erased from the pack registers.”

Daniel trembled under the crushing weight of Nathaniel’s aura. He looked at Emma one last time, saw the absolute devotion in her eyes as she looked up at her Alpha, and realized he had lost forever.

Without another word, Daniel turned, ducked his head, and fled the conservatory in shame.

A chorus of polite applause broke out among the elders, approving of the True Alpha’s absolute declaration.

Nathaniel turned to Emma, ignoring the crowd around them. He reached down, cupping her face in both hands, his thumb gently smoothing her cheekbone.

“Did I speak too loudly, my Queen?” he whispered softly, a rare, breathtaking smile illuminating his severe, handsome face.

Emma laughed—a rich, joyful sound that echoed through the grand conservatory. She reached up, placing her hands over his warm wrists, her hazel eyes shining with infinite love.

“You spoke perfectly, my Alpha,” she whispered back.

May you like

Nathaniel bent his head, pressing his lips to hers in a deep, passionate kiss beneath the moonlit glass roof, sealing their bond before the entire world.

The orphan girl who had been left alone at midnight had finally found her home—not in a quiet corner of the world, but in the fierce, unshakeable arms of the giant who had claimed her heart forever.
