Chapter 10 - The Sovereign’s Return

On Thursday evening, a private Gulfstream jet painted in midnight black sat on the tarmac at O'Hare International Airport, its engines humming smoothly in the cool autumn breeze.

A fleet of four black armored SUVs pulled up directly alongside the boarding staircase.

Marcus stepped out first, followed by eight elite security operatives wearing dark suits and tactical earpieces, forming a tight defensive perimeter around the staircase.

From the rear passenger seat of the primary SUV, Adrian stepped out into the night air. He wore a bespoke charcoal-grey three-piece suit, his hair styled back, looking every bit the sovereign chief of Vale Maritime.

He turned, offering his hand into the vehicle.

Naomi stepped out beside him.

She looked breathtaking. Gone was the pale, terrified woman in the gray cotton dress who had vomited outside the courthouse three days ago. She wore a floor-length dark emerald silk gown beneath a heavy wool coat, her hair styled into an elegant updo, and her diamond wedding ring—unlocked from her studio drawer—shining brilliantly on her left finger.

Beside her, Dr. Thorne walked up the stairs carrying a sealed leather briefcase containing the official, certified medical records from Northwestern Memorial and the Vale private clinic, stamped with federal notary seals.

Adrian took Naomi’s hand, leading her up the stairs to the cabin of the jet.

Inside, the luxury cabin was prepared for complete comfort—soft leather recliners, warm lighting, and a private medical berth set up in the rear compartment in case Naomi felt nauseous during the flight.

As the heavy jet doors sealed shut and the plane began taxiing toward the runway, Naomi sat near the window, looking out at the glittering lights of the Chicago skyline fading below them.

Adrian sat across from her, pouring a glass of sparkling water and handing it to her gently.

“Are you ready for this?” Adrian asked softly.

Naomi took a sip of the water, then set the glass down. She reached out, placing her hand over her abdomen, feeling the tiny, invisible pulse of life growing inside her. Then she reached across the table, wrapping her fingers tightly around Adrian’s wrist.

“Moretti tried to take my life and my child’s future,” Naomi said, her dark eyes flashing with a fierce, dangerous fire that matched his own. “Let’s go show New York who really owns the harbor.”

Adrian looked at her, a low, dark smile spreading across his face—a smile of pure pride and unyielding love.

“That’s my wife,” Adrian whispered.

The Gulfstream accelerated down the tarmac, lifting effortlessly into the night sky, soaring toward New York City for the final, bloody showdown that would seal their family’s destiny forever.
