The morning light streamed through the high stained-glass windows of the estate’s private chapel.
The organ played a triumphant melody as the heavy oak doors opened.
I walked down the aisle in a custom white satin gown that trailed three feet behind me, carrying a bouquet of lily-of-the-valley flowers. Walking beside me, holding my hand proudly, was Lily, wearing a tiny white bridesmaid dress with matching shiny purple shoes.
At the altar, Marcus stood waiting, tears glistening in his dark eyes as he watched us approach.
When we reached him, Marcus bent down first, picking up Lily and kissing her cheek. "Ready, little princess?"
"Ready, Daddy!" Lily cheered happily.
The entire household staff—Marta, the kitchen crew, the groundskeepers—sat in the front rows, wearing their finest clothes, wiping tears of joy from their eyes. They weren't just staff anymore; they were our family.
The priest read the sacred vows, and when Marcus placed the platinum wedding band on my finger, he leaned down and whispered into my ear:
"You are my home, Maya. Forever."
"And you are ours," I replied softly.
