Chapter 7 - A Mother's Blessing

Two months later.
The high-society storm had cleared. The Cain family had entered guilty pleas in federal court, their assets seized, their names permanently erased from New York elite circles.
Back at the Westchester estate, the atmosphere had transformed entirely. The cold, sterile mansion was now filled with warmth, flowers, and the constant, joyful sound of a toddler’s laughter.
I sat in the garden pavilion with Eleanor Cole, drinking Earl Grey tea while Lily chased blue butterflies across the manicured lawn.
"He loves you, you know," Eleanor said softly, setting her porcelain teacup on the saucer.
I looked at her, feeling a warm flush touch my cheeks. "Eleanor..."
"Marcus has spent his entire life surrounded by people who wanted a piece of his wealth," Eleanor continued, watching Lily with a fond smile. "When his father passed away ten years ago, Marcus shut his heart down. He thought love was a business contract. He almost married Vanessa because he thought it was the logical choice for the family name."
She turned her gentle gaze toward me.
"You didn't ask him for money, Maya. You didn't ask him for status. You stood in front of a billionaire and thought only of protecting your child. You gave him something money can't buy—trust."

"I love him, Eleanor," I admitted quietly, the truth blooming in my heart like the roses around us. "I loved him even when I was just the girl pushing the cleaning cart, watching him work late into the night."
Eleanor reached across the table, squeezing my hand tightly. "Then stop thinking like a housekeeper, my dear. You are the heart of this house now."
