Chapter 6 - WHAT ALessANDRO NEVER KNEW

Alessandro had never been afraid of losing money.
He had lost companies.
Properties.
Deals.
Political allies.
None of it mattered.
But losing Elizabeth's mother terrified him because it meant the enemy had reached inside his own family.
He confronted Victoria.
She denied everything.
Then she disappeared.
Marcus discovered she had transferred millions overseas.
Alessandro froze her accounts.
Victoria responded by releasing a story to the press.
BILLIONAIRE HIDES PREGNANT MISTRESS.
Photographs of Elizabeth leaving the residence appeared everywhere.
Her real name was revealed.
ELIZABETH HART.
The daughter of Daniel Hart.
The woman whose father had allegedly betrayed the Vitali family.
Reporters surrounded the hospital.
Elizabeth's nursing school suspended her.
People called her a gold digger.
A liar.
A criminal.
She broke down.
“I just wanted to become a nurse.”
Alessandro sat beside her.
“You still will.”
“How?”
“Because nobody gets to decide who you become.”
She looked at him.
“What if I ruin your company?”
“You won't.”
“What if I ruin your family?”
He gave a bitter smile.
“That's already happening.”
Then he told her the truth.
His father had not been innocent.
But he hadn't ordered Daniel's death.
Victoria had manipulated him.
She had created false financial records showing Daniel was stealing.
Matteo confronted Daniel.
Victoria arranged the warehouse fire without Matteo's knowledge.
But Daniel survived long enough to hide evidence.
Evidence that could destroy Victoria.
And Elizabeth's mother had been the last person who knew where it was.
They found the clue in an old hospital photograph.
Behind her mother's wheelchair was a painting.
A lighthouse.
Elizabeth stared at it.
“I know that painting.”
“Where?”
“My childhood home.”
They returned to the abandoned house.
The place was nearly collapsing.
Elizabeth walked into her old bedroom.
The wallpaper was still covered with faded stars.
She touched the wall.
Then remembered something.
Her father used to say:
“Stars are just secrets the sky refuses to tell.”
She pulled away a loose panel.
Inside was a small metal box.
The missing evidence was inside.
Bank transfers.
Photographs.
Audio recordings.
And one final document.
A signed confession.
Not from Victoria.
From Daniel.
He had written:
If anything happens to me, Victoria Vale is responsible. Matteo does not know. Protect Elizabeth.
Elizabeth began crying.
Alessandro put an arm around her.
She leaned against him.
Then they heard footsteps downstairs.
Someone was inside.
Alessandro grabbed the box.
“Stay here.”
Elizabeth shook her head.
“No.”
He looked at her.
“I've spent my entire life hiding.”
She took his hand.
“Not anymore.”
They descended together.
May you like
Victoria stood in the hallway.
Holding a gun.
