Chapter 6 - Under the Rosemary Sun

FOUR MONTHS LATER
The warm April sun shone brilliantly over the rolling green hills of the Bellandi estate, illuminating blooming white lilies, vibrant red roses, and the sparkling blue waters of the Hudson River.
The high stone walls around the property remained, but the armed men in dark suits were no longer visible. The grounds had been opened up, transformed into a peaceful, sunlit sanctuary.
Under a large white marquee on the south lawn, a joyful celebration was in full swing.
Dozens of guests—legitimate business partners, local community leaders, estate staff, and old friends—were laughing, drinking champagne, and enjoying a lavish spring buffet.
Sitting on a comfortable wicker sofa under the shade of an old oak tree was Cassandra Bellandi.
I wore a simple, elegant blush-pink silk dress that flowed gracefully around my legs. My hair was styled in soft waves, and my face radiated a deep, radiant peace.
Lying in my arms, wrapped in a soft white cashmere blanket, was two-month-old Isabel Cassandra Bellandi.
She had full head of dark, silky hair and striking, bright gray eyes—just like her father.
"Is she sleeping, Mommy?"
Alessia Rourke walked over, carrying a small silver tray with fresh lemonade and fruit tarts.
Over the past four months, Alessia had severed all ties with her father's criminal network, taking over as the executive director of the new Bellandi Women & Children’s Sanctuary—a forty-million-dollar charitable foundation funded entirely by Roman’s legitimate logistics enterprise.
"She just woke up, Alessia," I smiled, adjusting Isabel's blanket so she could see her.
Alessia dropped down onto the grass beside the sofa, looking at the tiny baby with gentle, affectionate eyes. "She's beautiful, Cass. She has Roman's eyes, but she definitely has your quiet strength."
"Thank you, Alessia," I said softly, reaching out to touch her arm. "For everything."
"Look who's taking time off from his new board meeting." Alessia smiled, nodding toward the main house.
Roman was walking across the green lawn toward us.
He wore a relaxed navy linen shirt, sleeves rolled up to his elbows, looking younger, healthier, and happier than I had ever seen him. The cold, brooding Don had been completely replaced by a devoted husband and proud father.
Over the last four months, Roman had executed a complete restructuring of his holdings, liquidating all gray-market assets and transitioning the Bellandi Syndicate into a fully legitimate, transparent international logistics conglomerate.
He dropped down onto the sofa beside me, wrapping his strong arm around my shoulders and pulling me close to his side.
"How is my queen?" Roman murmured, kissing my temple before leaning down to kiss tiny Isabel's forehead.
"She's perfect, Roman," I smiled, resting my head against his shoulder. "And her father is late for her feeding time."
Roman let out a rich, warm laugh that echoed across the sunlit lawn. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small, plush velvet box.
"What's this?" I asked, looking up at him.
"Open it," Roman encouraged gently.
I opened the box. Inside rested a custom-crafted platinum pendant in the shape of a blooming rosemary flower, set with a flawless pink diamond in the center.
Engraved on the back in delicate script were the words:
ISABEL CASSANDRA BELLANDI OUR FOREVER PEACE
"Rosemary is for remembrance, my love," Roman whispered into my ear, his hand intertwining with mine under the warm spring sun. "To remind me every single day of the courage of the woman who saved my soul."
I looked down at the glittering pendant, then up at my husband's dark gray eyes, which were filled with infinite warmth, devotion, and love.

The dark winter of lies, betrayal, and war had completely passed.
Standing by the river with my husband and daughter, bathed in the golden warmth of a new beginning, I knew that our home was finally safe, victorious, and forever blessed under the sun.
