Chapter 8 - The Weight Lifted

Summer arrived in full swing, bringing warm breezes and vibrant green trees to their new neighborhood.
The brownstone was constantly filled with life now. Friends from Grace’s design circles, neighbors from the block, and even a few of Elias’s reformed business associates dropped by for weekend barbecues and quiet dinners in the courtyard. She laughed, leaning into his chest, her dark eyes shining with happiness. “I was thinking... since things are so quiet, and we finally have a home that feels complete... maybe we should plan a real vacation. Somewhere far away. No phones, no business, just us.”

“Name it,” Elias said without a second hesitation. “Anywhere in the world.”
She smiled, resting her head against his heart—the same heart that had once been locked behind walls of ice, now beating steadily, openly, and entirely for her.
