Chapter 6 - A Legacy Restored

Six months later.
The summer sun sparkled over the clear waters of Lake Geneva.
On the manicured green lawn overlooking the lake, a small white marquee had been set up, decorated with white roses, wild ivy, and delicate glass lanterns. A string quartet played softly near the water's edge.
Inside the compound, Dominic Vale stood in front of a full-length mirror in his private suite.
He was wearing a dark blue, hand-tailored tuxedo with a black bow tie. He looked immaculate, powerful, but the cold, distant look that had once defined his face was gone. In its place was the calm authority of a man who had found his purpose.
A knock sounded at the door.
Carter Wynn walked in, wearing a sharp black suit, holding a velvet ring box.
"Everything is ready downstairs, Dom," Carter smiled. "The guests have arrived."
Dominic turned around, adjusting his cuffs. "Did the security detail cover the perimeter?"
"Level Five security," Carter chuckled. "There are three armed guards hidden in the pine trees and two boats patrolling the lake. Though honestly, I don't think anyone in the Midwest is stupid enough to crash your wedding."
Dominic smirked, taking the ring box from Carter’s hand. He opened it, looking at the simple, elegant platinum band set with a flawless round diamond.
"Thank you, Carter," Dominic said quietly. "For everything."
"You deserve this, boss," Carter said sincerely. "You brought us out of the shadows. The business is clean now. The South Side is quiet. You gave us all a future."
Downstairs, the wedding march began to play.
Dominic walked down the stone path toward the white marquee set up by the lake. Thirty guests—close friends, trusted lieutenants, and Hannah’s extended family—sat on white chairs, clapping warmly as he stepped up to the altar.
Then, the music shifted.
The crowd stood up.
Dominic turned his gaze toward the back of the lawn.
Hannah walked out onto the green grass, holding her father's arm. She wore a breath-taking lace wedding gown with a flowing train that caught the summer breeze. Her brown hair was styled in soft curls, adorned with small white flowers. She looked radiant, beautiful, a vision of pure light.
Behind her, a nanny walked softly, pushing a polished silver stroller containing seven-month-old Leo, who was dressed in a tiny matching blue tuxedo, clapping his little hands merrily at the music.
As Hannah reached the altar, her father placed her hand into Dominic’s big palm.
Dominic looked into her brown eyes, feeling a wave of absolute, overwhelming happiness wash over him.
"You take my breath away," Dominic whispered softly.
"You're not so bad yourself, Mr. Vale," Hannah beamed, her eyes sparkling with tears of joy.
The priest began the ceremony, his voice carrying over the gentle sound of waves lapping against the shore.
"We are gathered here today to unite Dominic Vale and Hannah Reed in holy matrimony..."
When the time came for the vows, Dominic didn't read from a prepared card. He looked directly into Hannah’s eyes, holding both of her hands tightly in his.
"Hannah," Dominic said, his deep voice carrying clear and strong through the quiet summer air. "I spent my whole life building walls to keep the world out. I thought power was about control. But you showed me that true strength is the courage to love. I promise to protect you, to cherish you, to honor you, and to build a life for us and our son where fear will never touch us again."
Hannah smiled, tears flowing freely down her cheeks as she spoke her vows.
"Dominic," she whispered, "you are my protector, my best friend, and the love of my life. I promise to stand by you, to laugh with you, and to build a home filled with light and warmth for our family, forever."
"By the power vested in me," the priest smiled, "I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."
Dominic didn't hesitate. He pulled Hannah into his arms, dipping her back slightly as he pressed his lips to hers in a deep, passionate kiss that brought the entire audience to their feet, cheering and clapping wildly!
Little Leo let out a joyful, high-pitched babble from his stroller, waving his tiny hands in the air.

Dominic pulled back, laughing softly, picking up his son in one arm and wrapping his other arm around his wife's waist.
Together, they looked out over the sparkling waters of the lake, under the bright blue sky of a new day, knowing that their long, perilous journey through the shadows was finally over—and their beautiful future had just begun.
