Chapter 6 - A Sweet Destination

One year later.
The sun shone brightly over a private, cliffside estate in Maui, Hawaii. The deep blue ocean stretched out into the infinite horizon, sparkling like diamonds under the tropical sky.
Soft ukulele music played in the background as sixty close friends and family members gathered under a floral arch made of white orchids and pink roses.
I stood in front of a mirror in the bride's suite, wearing a breathtaking, minimalist silk gown designed by my best friend. My hair was styled in soft waves, and my face radiated an inner peace and happiness that no amount of money could ever buy.
A soft knock came at the door.
"You look stunning, my dear," Arthur Bennett said, walking in with tears in his eyes, looking at me like a proud father. "Your real father would have been so proud of the woman you’ve become."
"Thank you, Arthur," I smiled, giving him a warm hug. "Thank you for always having my back."
"Always," Arthur grinned. "Now, are you ready? The groom is waiting."
I took a deep breath, took Arthur's arm, and stepped out onto the sunlit lawn.
As the music shifted to a gentle acoustic melody, I walked down the aisle lined with white petals. At the end of the altar stood Ethan Vance, wearing a tailored light gray suit. When his eyes met mine, his face lit up with such pure, unadulterated joy and love that tears welled up in my eyes.
We exchanged our vows—not contractually bound by corporate interests or pride, but rooted in mutual respect, partnership, and deep, unconditional affection.
"I promise to support your dreams, honor your strength, and love you through every storm," Ethan said softly, slipping a simple, elegant emerald ring onto my finger. "And I promise to always treat you like the queen you are."
"I pronounce you husband and wife!" the officiant declared.
The guests cheered wildly as Ethan drew me close, wrapping his arms around my waist, and kissed me deeply under the Hawaiian sun.
Later that evening, as twilight painted the sky in shades of purple and gold, the reception was held under a open-air pavilion overlooking the ocean.
When it came time to cut the wedding cake—a magnificent, three-tiered vanilla cake decorated with fresh berries—Ethan took the silver knife and placed his hand gently over mine.
The guests laughed lightly, remembering the famous story.
Ethan turned to look at me, his eyes full of warmth and humor. He gently picked up a small strawberry dipped in white chocolate, feeding it to me softly before wiping a tiny crumb from my lip with his thumb.
"Perfect," Ethan whispered, kissing my cheek.

I looked out at our guests—my true friends, my loving team, and the man who cherished me for who I truly was. I had walked away from humiliation, reclaimed my power, rebuilt an empire, and found a love that was pure and unwavering.
I took Ethan's hand, leaned my head against his shoulder, and smiled as we watched the sun dip beneath the ocean horizon, knowing that the sweetest victory was living a life filled with love, dignity, and peace.
