Chapter 6 - The Giant’s Castle

One year later.

The grand gardens of the Moretti estate were blooming with bright summer flowers. The high stone walls that had once felt like a prison now looked like the protective boundaries of an enchanted castle. The air was filled with the sound of cheerful laughter and classical violin music drifting from the open French doors of the ballroom.

It was a small, elegant wedding—a celebration of love, resilience, and a new beginning.

Allie stood before a long mirror in the bridal suite, her heart fluttering with pure happiness. She wore a breathtaking white lace gown with a flowing train, her dark hair styled in soft curls adorned with white jasmine. She looked radiant, strong, and deeply loved.

A soft knock sounded at the door, and Lily skipped into the room, wearing a matching white flower-girl dress with a pink sash. In her small hands, she carried a basket of rose petals.

"Mommy! You look like a princess!" Lily squealed, running up to give Allie a careful hug.

"And you look like a little angel, sweetheart," Allie smiled, kneeling down to kiss her daughter’s cheek. "Are you ready?"

"Yes! Mr. Shadow Monster said if I drop all the flowers nicely, he’ll give me three scoops of strawberry ice cream!" Lily giggled.

Allie laughed softly, her heart swelling with gratitude. Over the past year, Murphy had officially legally adopted Lily, showering her with love, patience, and devotion. The terrifying mob Don had become a doting, gentle father who never missed a storytime before bed.

When Allie walked down the garden aisle, the small gathering of close friends, loyal staff, and security personnel stood up, smiling warmly.

At the end of the flower-draped altar stood Murphy Moretti.

He wore a dark, tailored tuxedo, looking impeccably handsome. As he watched Allie walk toward him, the stern, unyielding lines of his face softened into an expression of pure, unadulterated adoration.

There were no shadows in his eyes anymore. The cold fortress he had built around his heart had been completely transformed into a home.

When Allie reached him, Murphy took her hands in his. His large, scarred hands were warm and steady.

"You are the most beautiful sight I have ever seen, Allie," Murphy whispered, his voice thick with emotion.

"You gave us a life I never dreamed we could have, Murphy," she replied softly, tears of joy sparkling in her eyes.

The officiant spoke words of love, loyalty, and lifelong commitment. When Murphy placed a brilliant diamond band onto Allie’s finger, and then presented a tiny matching silver bracelet to Lily, who stood proudly beside them, the entire garden erupted in applause.

"I now pronounce you husband and wife," the officiant declared. "You may kiss the bride."

Murphy pulled Allie close by her waist and kissed her deeply, a kiss filled with passion, protection, and an enduring promise of forever.

Later that evening, as the stars began to twinkle above the estate and golden lanterns lit up the stone terrace, the string quartet began to play a slow, gentle waltz.

Murphy walked over to where Allie was sitting, holding an exhausted Lily, who was holding her worn stuffed rabbit.

Murphy carefully lifted the sleepy four-year-old girl into his arms, letting her rest her head against his shoulder just like she had on the night they first met. Then, he extended his free hand to his wife.

"Mrs. Moretti," Murphy said softly, a warm, breathtaking smile lighting up his face. "May I have this dance?"

Allie placed her hand in his, feeling the cool platinum ring on her finger press against his warm palm.

May you like

"Always, my shadow monster," she whispered with a smile.

Together, the three of them stepped onto the stone terrace under the moonlight, dancing slowly in the quiet warmth of the night—a family whole, safe, and deeply loved in the giant's castle.
