Chapter 5 - The Public Unmasking

Refusing to go down without a fight, Gwendolyn made one final, catastrophic mistake. She convinced Chloe to release a tearful video on social media, framing me as an evil, greedy heiress who was throwing a hardworking family onto the streets out of pure jealousy.

The video went viral within twelve hours, gaining over a million views. Comments flooded in, attacking my name and calling for a boycott of my financial consulting firm.

"They think they can play the court of public opinion," Maya said, walking into my home office with a sly grin. "Are you ready to drop the hammer, Paige?"

"Release the vault," I commanded.

We didn't just release a statement; we published a full, unassailable dossier. Maya uploaded high-definition security camera footage from the night of the dinner party—showing Gwendolyn pounding her fists on the table, screaming at me to get out, and Chloe laughing as she demanded my room.

We attached certified receipts proving that Gwendolyn had been quietly siphoning money from my father's retirement accounts, alongside the public court records of the trust agreement. To top it off, we included the video of Chloe throwing my mother's artwork into the trash.

The internet's reaction was instantaneous and brutal.

The public narrative flipped overnight. Thousands of commentators turned their wrath on Gwendolyn and Chloe. Chloe's brand sponsorships dissolved within hours. Her talent agency formally dropped her, and her follower count plummeted by over seventy percent.

Local news outlets picked up the story: “Phoenix Influencer and Stepmother Exposed After Trying to Steal Deceased Mother’s Trust Estate.”

Gwendolyn became a social pariah in her local high-society circles. The country club suspended her membership due to the negative press, and her boutique business folded under the weight of public backlash.

They had tried to use social media as a weapon against me, only to realize they had built their own scaffold.
