Chapter 4 - The Return of the Heiress

Forty-eight hours later, the morning sun illuminated the towering glass structure of Vance Logistics Headquarters in downtown Chicago.

The main entrance was swarming with news reporters, photographers, and television crews. Camera flashes exploded like lightning across the marble plaza.

A sleek black Maybach pulled up to the red carpet at the front steps.

Marcus stepped out first, opening the rear door.

Clara Vance stepped out of the vehicle.

She was completely transformed. She wore a tailored charcoal-gray silk suit, her long dark hair styled in elegant waves over her shoulders, her face glowing with health, dignity, and radiant beauty. Beside her stood Cameron West in a sharp double-breasted tuxedo, holding six-year-old Hope by the hand.

Hope wore a beautiful white coat and red patent-leather shoes, smiling happily at the camera flashes.

The crowd of reporters surged forward, shouting questions over the security barricades.

"Ms. Vance! How does it feel to return to your father's company after six years?" "Mr. West! Is West Global Holdings planning a full merger with Vance Logistics?" "Ms. Vance! Is it true you were working three jobs before this week?"

Clara stopped at the top of the marble steps in front of the grand entrance. She turned to face the wall of cameras, her posture straight, her chin held high with absolute authority.

Cameron stepped back slightly, letting her take the spotlight that belonged to her.

"Six years ago," Clara spoke into the sea of microphones, her voice clear, powerful, and resonant across the plaza, "I was stripped of my name, my father's legacy, and my dignity by corrupt men who believed that money granted them immunity from justice."

The reporters went completely silent, listening to her every word.

"I survived six years in the dark," Clara continued, her eyes sweeping over the crowd. "I worked three jobs, slept on basement floors, and fought every single day to keep my daughter safe. But two days ago, a man chose to miss his flight to save my life when everyone else walked past."

She looked back at Cameron, her violet eyes shining with deep, unshakeable devotion.

"Today, Vance Logistics returns to its founding principle—integrity," Clara declared firmly. "We will restore every pension fund stolen by the previous board, we will double the wages of our warehouse workers, and we will establish a ten-million-dollar foundation to support single mothers in Chicago!"

The crowd of reporters and gathered crowd burst into thunderous applause.

Inside the grand board room on the forty-second floor, thirty high-ranking executives and former board members who had supported Richard Vance sat in nervous silence as Clara stepped into the room, flanked by Cameron West and a team of top federal corporate attorneys.

Clara walked straight to the head of the massive mahogany table—the seat her father had built twenty years ago.

She pulled out the high-backed leather chair and sat down calmly.

"Gentlemen," Clara said, her voice dropping into a razor-sharp, authoritative tone. "My name is Clara Vance. You have ten minutes to submit your voluntary resignations, or my legal team will begin individual audits of your personal accounts."

Within thirty seconds, twenty-eight pens hit the table as every corrupt executive signed their resignation letters in absolute terror.

Cameron stood near the window, his arms crossed over his chest, watching Clara command the room with a proud, brilliant smile.

"She’s brilliant, boss," Marcus whispered beside Cameron. "She managed to reorganize three departments before we even finished coffee."

"I know," Cameron murmured, his eyes never leaving Clara's breathtaking face. "She was born for this."
